Russian Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseyev said that cryptocurrencies may be bad for investors but could be useful in international settlements. He revealed that Russian authorities intend to set up a special committee to issue licenses to operators using cryptocurrencies in foreign trade transactions. Moiseyev made it clear that he was referring to Russia's foreign trade activities, which are currently restricted by Western sanctions. He also cautioned that a draft law aimed at regulating the matter was still under consideration by the State Duma, the lower house of Russia's parliament.
