Apple climbed to # 1 in the fourth quarter of the world's largest smartphone manufacturers for the first time since 2016. This is stated in the data of the research company Gartner.
In the last three months of 2020, Apple sold nearly 80 million smartphones. The company's market share for the quarter was 20.8%. Growth in comparison with the fourth quarter of 2019 - 14.9%.
According to analysts, a positive trend for Apple has been outlined with the launch of the iPhone with 5G. It will continue in the first quarter of 2021, which was the new year in China and, accordingly, the season of gifts, and in the following months as the economy recovers.
Samsung (KS: 005930) moved down to second position. The company was able to sell almost 12% fewer smartphones in the fourth quarter compared to the end of 2019. Samsung sold 62 million devices, accounting for 16.2% of the market. The third and fourth places went to the Chinese Xiaomi (HK: 1810) and Oppo. Xiaomi added 33.9% of sales over the year, Oppo - 12.9%. Huawei is on the fifth line (SZ: 002502). Its sales are down 41% since the end of 2019.
