On January 14th, 2022, Mercury will go retrograde for 3 weeks. This correlates reliable with trend reversal, as you can see on the chart (Mercury retrograde is shown as bright pink lines). On January 17th, we will have a full moon, which correlates reliably with a local bottom and shifting upwards (White circles on the chart). Both at the same time is rare. Within the past 2 years, it only happened on January 28th, 2021. It corresponded to the start of an explosive uptrend, after a 30% retrace. Will history repeat itself? It appears that the current market is not as favorable as it was last year. Unfortunately, mercury retrograde can also correspond to the start of a sideways trend for a few weeks, after which the original trend resumes, like it did with an uptrend in November 2020. I haven't found an example of this happening with a downtrend, but I see no reason why it couldn't happen.
