Looking at what it would have been better to buy this index fund vs Bitcoin. Seems everyone wants stocks now days. I want to look at how the facts line up.

For starters lets be really clear I am only looking at time frames where the S&P 500 might have stood a chance against crypto. Here being an example of start of why start of 2017 S&P 500 vs BTC. To put is softly if this was a heart rate monitor think it would be safe to say the S&P 500 was lifeless by comparison.

October 2017 S&P 500 36% VS 86% Bitcoin being the clear winner.

November 2017 Bitcoin is takes the loss here. 21% vs 33% gains.

December 2017 S&P 500 clear winner as Bitcoin hit all time high. -13 % VS 31%

January 2018 S&P 500 barely winning 19% vs 24%

February 2018 S&P 500 barely winning 16% vs 29%

March 2018 BTC winning with a large lead 73% VS 33%

April 2018 BTC taking the loss at 30% vs 33%

May 2018 BTC taking the win at 60% vs 30%
I skipped about 1 year where BTC was the clear winner.

June 2019 S&P 500 wins 19% vs 11%
Skipped to March 2020

March 2020 BTC wins 87% to 36%
To me after looking at this the most not worth is for the most part buying Bitcoin if your down vs S&P 500 it would be a narrow loss with the except of one month ever. December 2017. Where as the months Bitcoin won above your lead is likely to be large. Even more so considering the months that were not worth comparing. For having such a small down side in very specific time frames vs S&P 500 this asset has much less attention.
