Trend Definition: NVDA Example

Updated
Uptrend Rules

  1. Strong: Second closing candle above the high of the first breakout candle.
  2. Semi-strong: Price reaches above the high of the breakout candle at any point.
  3. Weak: The second candle post-breakout closes above the 34 EMA (high) of the breakout candle.

Downtrend Rules

  1. Strong: Two consecutive candle closes below the 34 EMA (Low). This does not consider the relative levels of these closes, only that both are below the 34 EMA (Low).
  2. Semi-strong: Price drops below the low of the first breakdown candle at any point.
  3. Weak: A second candle closes below the low of the first breaking candle, establishing lower lows.

Note
Uptrend restored as of yesterday's close above the recent 888.19 high. Monday 5/6 showed strong follow-through, and seems momentum is in favor of continuation or at least staying above 34EMA. All hinges on upcoming earnings 5/22 not only for this stock itself, but the broader semiconductor and tech sector, and even overall market as NVDA has become a bellwether of the AI-driven economy
