Certainly a portion of this pullback comes from the missed earning projection; however when we scratch the surface we see an overall healthy Q4 update. I'm sure Elon would prefer more profits - but the increase in general production capability is a positive light for the future.
So, if it wasn't the earnings that scared investors - what was it?
This is purely conjecture, but I believe that there was a significant portion of the sell off that can be called 'meme energy'. Simply, TSLA wasn't the hot stock of Social Media. Replaced by the likes of GME et al, retailers chasing the next fix cashed out to move into other positions. They will probably be back, Elon is their chosen one after all. But for now, it might be more sideways then most have grown accustom to in recent months.
