A Florida senator is calling for action from the Transportation Department and automakers after a series of electric vehicle fires tied to Hurricane Ian.
The storm caused flooding and destruction across the state, and fire officials say they are still seeing its impact with EV batteries catching fire after saltwater damage. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is aware of multiple fires in Tesla Inc. vehicles, the agency said in a letter sent Friday to a Florida official and obtained by Bloomberg Government.
COMMON SENSE
OK everyone don't park or drive your car in a flood zone or the ocean covering land below LOL
Make sure you have fire coverage.
Florida drivers think before you drive.
I have personally seen hundreds of florida drivers lined up and driving through water halfway up the door of there vehicles. Water is a conduit for electricity and ev batteries put out some juice through its electrical wiring. A down power line and a damaged gasoline engine can blow up too. What is the difference?
Florida is a flood state not a fire state. Florida needs to call California for some advice on how to responsibly deal with these fires instead of going to the media with dumb comments blaming EV companies
reach out to the ev companies directly instead of making a big deal out of it.
florida used cars are double the cost so the EV market will put 1000's of used dealers out of business in the state of florida. i have been hearing the gossip from dealers all over the united states. Transitioning the transportation industry will put many dealers out of business.
I'm rambling on so i will conclude with move with times or get left behind
