Le richieste di disoccupazione negli Stati Uniti e l'indice del costo unitario del lavoro nel secondo trimestre si sono discostati, mentre l'attesissimo PMI dei servizi ISM è sceso a 52,7 a luglio dai 53,0 attesi. Tuttavia, il sottoindice US ISM Services Price è salito inaspettatamente a 56,8 durante il periodo in esame. Sulla scia dei dati contrastanti degli Stati Uniti e di uno stato d'animo cauto del mercato, i prezzi dell'oro hanno recuperato oltre $ 1.930, dopo aver toccato un nuovo minimo di tre mesi a $ 1.930 all'inizio della giornata.
