USDJPY H4 HOW TO TRADE A DESCENDING TRIANGLE + PULLBACK SHORT £$Clean and insightful USD/JPY publish with overview on trading a Descending Wedge - just my opinion anyway :)
The base range is the distance from the highest point of the range to our marked low point.
We then take this same distance to determine the potential size of the breakout
Note how close USD/JPY came to reaching this potential level
in my experience price often pulls back to the level of its breaks out before continuing in set directional trend, lets see if that happens.
Stop inside of wedge, target still base range, proportional boxes give an idea of the momentum expected in short falls,
Fibonacci retracement level based of major high/low points within descending wedge, notice how it highlights key levels of price action within the wedge
161.8% level also strong confluence with potential target
Channel commodity index also in steady down motion
Good Luck and Happy Trading :)
continiuation trade after consolidating a breakout of the trendupdate : broke out of consolidation lets look for a .618 retracement for a long position
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good day to you traders,
Just saw the 2nd breakout last night so i looked for a trading oppertunnity.
I have been waiting for a consolidation above the trendline because, after a second breakout, i think this is a pretty good confirmation that the price will go higher after a very long down trend.
IF the price breaks out ABOVE the consolidation THEN i think this is a pretty good oppertunity to long this pair.
IF the price retraced .618 THEN i will long till previous structure @ 0.67410.
Stop loss will be @ 0.66423 just under the consolidation.
edit: RSI isnt overbought yet

I was thinking of starting this experience again, but am not sure if you are interested :) .. So would you like me start "Journey to 100 Trades" Again?

(SWING)Good 1-2-3 pattern to continue a bullish bias. Expecting to break the resistance level but maybe too extended to break now. Looking for a small pullback or flag to work off the overbought stochastic.
EURAUD: Reviewing The Tape (Education not a trade idea)I've already written my "Trading Recap" blog post for today but I wanted to share something with you guys. For you guys that have been following along with my blog you know that I've been working on an article looking at professional athletes and professional traders. One of my main comparisons is the amount of preparation and review that both do.
Just like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady do after every game, after each trading day I review the tape, meaning that I go back through my trading day and critique myself. After all, in this industry we are our own bosses so if we don't do it who will?
Last night I posted a trade looking for a potential breakout to the upside on EURAUD, although we did test the highs of our previous structure level we never got the break that I was looking for and it ended up being a scratch trade (breakeven). This morning in our Warroom meeting Jason Stapleton fired off 2618 idea for this same pair. (I'll attach a link to the FREE 2618 training at the bottom of this post). In the live room we ended up finding a bearish Cypher at the same level and ended up getting short as well. After banking some good pips, I spend the rest of our session going through the rest of my portfolio and basically but this pair on the back burner.
BIG MISTAKE, if only i would have paid more attention to it, i would have seen that IF our 2618 setup were to rally to 2nd targets THEN we'd also have a Bat pattern completion which we plant a stop & reverse at. So yeah I left a few pips on the board today but the important part is that I was able to identify my mistake and turn it into a learning experience. For those who don't take the time to review their day, well that mistake may continue to be a future mistake.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I'll see you next week at the Technical Trader Workshop!!!

Long-Term Decision PointI'm not going to make a call either way on this one but we should be able to clearly see the choice that is made within the next few days. The price has returned to that orange resistance trendline that forced it out of its purple channel late last year. On the RSI, we can see that the orange resistance trendline is potentially going to be broken. Failing that, a bearish divergence would be produced and it might be some time before the price attempts to break this trendline again. On the other hand, if the bullish scenario happens, we could see some seriously bull action in the medium to long-term.
EUR/USD CrabCrab with 2.24AB=CD (the 1.618 is way far behind to be at any importance) , 3.14BC projection and 1.618XA extension in the PRZ. SL @ 1.07. The RiskReward ratio is good standing at around 3.7. Since the RSI show such an oversold state I would personally execute the trade right after it touches the D point. Another important thing. Since the high volatility this friday we might have a huge gap which might invalidate the pattern but we will see how it plays out.
That's all, folks.
GBP/JPY potential patternGartley drawn in a best outcome scenario. 618 C was held so that makes me think we will have a reversal. PRZ is not that narrow and since its a Gartley pattern we shall be looking for the AB=CD to complete. Stop losses a few pips after the X, TG1 and TG2 are on fib levels and in the best case scenario we will have a trade with around 4:1 RR. Just stare at the chart it could be one of the great trades this year.
That's all, folks.
ENIP Good Reward to Risk Trade BullishTaking a recent swing low and swing high, the risk reward tool can measure potential profit to risk when stopped out and give the reward to risk ratio. Moving the mouse over the shaded area, here we see we can potentially make 375% while risking only 32.14% or in other words the ratio is 11.67, which is excellent. Any time one can use this tool to find a trade that has a ratio of 3 or more, that is great. It makes the odds so that effectively one could take every trade and have it be a coin toss winning half the time for 3x the bet and losing half the time for all the bet, and not care about it because the trades would breakeven with no loss all together. So even the slightest edge where it be due dilligence or trading system or indicator to make those trades even slightly better than a coin toss, then a profit is made.
During backtesting trading techniques, if something is found that works 60-70% of the time that's great. Use it with trade setups that are reward to risk ratio over 3. That is a profitable way to make money trading. Whatever trading system is used it doesn't have to be super-perfect, complex, fancy, or better than anyone else, just "good enough" is fine.
