Meta Platforms Finishing Local Trend. METAElliott Wave impulse is possibly finished, yet relying on Elliott counts alone comes with unfathomable risk, I looked for a constellation of additional pieces to qualify a short position on the 12H chart. That is fairly strong bearish price action with lower lows, and indicators are generally bearish or downgoing in the least. More relevantly, RSX left OBOS territory, MIDAS curve has been crossed, and VZO/Ehler's StochRSI have crossed almost in tandem. Ultimate goal is bottom of A, which an elliotician will recognize to be frequently 0.382 retracement, which interestingly forms a Fib cluster with the supposed fifth wave at 0.786 minor retracement.

How long will META stock fall?It made a new high on February 14th, after a long series. Since then, the price has been falling. After such a big move, it either goes sideways and processes it over time or falls, that is, processes the new high with the price. It is currently around the 0.382 Fibonacci, below the 10 and 20-day moving averages. I am curious to see if it will go to the 0.5 or 0.618 Fibonacci levels. For the latter, the 50 moving average and the support around 640. From here, the February 14th high is 15% away, where it can be cheap for the bulls, which is why I think it is a strong level technically. I consider a reversal when it bounces off one of the Fibonacci levels so that the MACD gives a buy signal above zero. This would require 2-3 green candle days, 1-2 smaller red candle days, during which the MACD turns into the aforementioned buy signal. Breathe deeply, be patient.

Now, I do not think Brown Forman will return to 32x earnings anytime soon — if ever — but if you even half the implied return from multiple expansion you still have plenty of upside. Ditto Remy — I do not love Remy because Cognac, for lack of a better term, is screwed. But there’s still obviously value there and it trades on a very depressed multiple — what’s to say the family has had enough and finds a buyer? Finally, Diageo. Less upside but more certainty — Guinness sells very well among Gen Z while their spirits portfolio continues to ebb along, if only growth in the low single digits. Valuations always tend to normalise, especially for companies which make staples. Paying 30x earnings was always too much — I used to look at Brown-Forman enviously, and wish it were cheaper. Well, now it is! And nobody likes it. On chart is a couple of headlines from Barron’s. I love to go counter-consensus to the media, because usually that’s a sign of peak pessimism. On chart are some headlines about Meta when everyone hated the stock in 2022/2023. Obviously, the booze stocks are not Meta — Meta is a cash flow machine! Zuck wears a gold chain! Zuck would like us to know he is a Cool Guy! But still — price drives narrative. Everyone was dissing Meta in 2022 (and I felt like an idiot buying it), now they love it. Ditto booze stocks. People aren’t going to stop drinking. That’s it. That’s the thesis.
