UsdJpy Trade UpdateI sent out a short idea for UJ and stated why I was personally looking to go short on the pair. With price retesting the level I wanted to see it pullback to and the hourly starting to go bearish, I decided to execute my shorts here with stops just above structure. I'm looking for a 1:3rr on this set up. If UJ is gonna continue ranging then we may even expect price to crash back down to 151.5. It's pretty late for an entry but I feel comfortable with where my stop is. I have more than enough room.

JPY on track for its worst monthly performance in 8 years. USD/JPY closed higher at 153.29 (+0.65%), up 6.70% in October, putting the JPY on track for its worst monthly performance in 8 years (since November 2016). The slide in the JPY accelerated yesterday after the LDP/ Komeito ruling coalition lost its lower house majority for the first time since 2009. There are signs that Ishiba will be able to cobble together an LDP-led minority government, which would be the first occurrence of this since WW2. This month's sell-off in the JPY increases the chances that the BOJ may push back against recent JPY weakness at its meeting on Thursday. While USD/JPY holds above an important band of support at 152.00/150.00 further gains appear likely.

USD/JPY schould the bears take their chance ? In recent weeks, we’ve seen a massive bullish movement. I believe many have been anticipating a bearish pullback or pivot. The market has now entered my daily supply zone, with indicators suggesting a potential bearish move ahead. Switching to the 4-hour timeframe, I don’t see a supply zone that meets my criteria when looking to the left. I’ll wait for the market to establish a current supply zone, which could present an entry opportunity soon. What I’m looking for now is a clear rejection favoring the bears to confirm a strong bearish move.

Yen slips to 3-month low after Japanese electionThe Japanese yen is lower on Monday. In the European session, USD/JPY is trading at 152.63, up 0.22% at the time of writing. The yen weakened as far as 153.88 but has pared most of the losses. The new trading week has barely begun but the markets are busy digesting the drama out of Tokyo. The snap parliamentary election over the weekend was a disaster for new Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, as his Liberal Democratic Party (LPD) coalition won just 215 seats, short of the 233 majority. Ishiba has been in power for only a month and the snap election backfired as the LDP lost its parliamentary majority for the first time since 2009. It’s unclear if Ishiba will be able to cobble together a majority and the political uncertainly could push the yen, which is trading at 3-month lows, even lower. The election bombshell comes just ahead of the Bank of Japan’s on Oct. 31. The BoJ is expected to maintain policy settings and will release updated growth and inflation forecasts. The BoJ has intervened in the past when the yen showed a sharp and quick decline and there is speculation that the central bank might intervene if the yen falls to 155 or 160 per dollar. The US wrapped up the week with mixed results. Durable Goods Orders declined 0.8% in September, unchanged from a revised -0.8% reading in August and above the market estimate of -1%. The UoM Consumer Sentiment index improved slightly to 70.5 in October, above 70.1 in September, beating the market estimate of 69.0. USD/JPY continues to push through resistance lines. UsdJpy Trade IdeaA set up I'm looking to get into this morning is going to be a short set up on UJ. UJ has been ranging since last week with solid structures for a trading opportunity. Price opened up bullish before crashing back down below resistance. Smaller time frames show a shift in structure after the bullish run so I'm personally looking to get into some shorts within the range. If all goes well I'll execute for a 1:3rr. We'll see what happens. IF price doesn't give confirmation and decides to push back to the upside I'll adapt and wait for some type of buying opportunity or call it a day if another pair doesn't present a solid set up.
