Obama Admin Opens Up S. Atlantic Coast to Offshore Drilling

My thoughts are that oil will still be a valuable energy resource, and this article shows that offshore drilling is still in demand, positive news for the company that I am following. It has a good dividend and strong long term holders. I may be adding more to my energy portfolio in the future.

Preserving the environment in Alaska was a good thought too so that was thrown into the debate, and it seems like everything is going in the right direction with a good balance between energy independence and environment damage insurance. I am kind of excited to see who will be the first to start drilling in this Atlantic coast region.
The article mentions there will be a limit to drill in the Arctic. Am i right to assume that drilling in warmer waters or less hostile environment such as the Atlantic is cheaper? Won't this help the margins, make it easier to drill, reduce risk, make it safer to operate and maintain the well, ext...?
