The long-short game of gold has entered a critical stage!

On Monday (July 21), spot gold (XAU/USD) continued its mild rise last Friday and continued to put pressure on the upper edge of the oscillation range of 3375-3385. The weak dollar is still the main driving force, and the market's wavering expectations for the Fed's rate cuts have made gold caught in a dilemma between safe-haven demand and interest rate prospects.

[Current situation: strong wait-and-see sentiment]
Gold is now like a hesitant gambler - afraid of missing the rise, and afraid of standing guard at a high level. The policy uncertainty of the Trump administration has brought safe-haven buying, but strong US economic data has poured cold water from time to time. The long and short sides have repeatedly pulled in the box of 3375-3310, and no one is willing to give up easily.

[Technical side: the wedge is narrowing, and the market is about to change]
Daily level: MACD golden cross appears, the adjustment seems to be coming to an end, and a new round of rise is ready to move.

4-hour level: The price is running in the rising wedge channel. 3385 is the short-term key pressure. If it breaks through, it will look to 3400; if it falls back after encountering resistance, it may test the support of 3345-3350 again.

1-hour level: Short-term strength, but be wary of the pullback in the European session. If 3350 holds, the US session may rise again.

[Operation strategy: high-altitude and low-long, wait for a break]

✅ Aggressive short order: 3374-3378 light position to try short, stop loss 3385, target 3355-3345 (if it does not fall before the US session, leave the market).
✅ Steady long order: 3345 can be shorted if it does not break, stop loss 3338, target 3360-3370 (if it falls below 3340, give up).
⚠️ Breakout strategy:

Break 3385 → retrace 3375 and follow the long, target 3400.

Break down 3340 → pull back to 3350 and short, target 3320-3310.

[Final reminder]
Gold is now like a compressed spring, it may explode at any time. But remember - before the direction is clear, don't be cannon fodder! Patiently waiting for the key position to break through is much more reliable than blindly chasing the rise and fall.
