Gold Futures (XAU) is a commodity market asset categorized as a safe haven. Its price is supported by industrial demand and central banks forming gold reserves. Investors use gold to diversify long-term investment portfolios - during times of global recession, funds flow from stocks and currencies into XAU. Investments in gold can yield up to 15% per year, but there are individual years when investments may be unprofitable. Therefore, the recommended holding period is 5-7 years.
