One share of GBTC represents 0.09196847 BTC ($1005.21 at current spot price). Current Price of GBTC at this time is $1665. (a 65.67% premium to BTC). This chart showing the BTC return and GBTC returns from 08/20/2017. BTC is up 162% and GBTC is up 136% (a 26% difference) Is the convenience of buying GBTC in your brokerage account or IRA investment account (on a regulated exchange) worth the cost of entry opposed to putting your trust in Gemini, Coinbase, etc.? Is owning the pure BTC the best play for the long term even though institutional money is stampeding into the crypto space.
