$DXY Repeating 2016 Post-Election I have highlighted the 2016 to 2020 Presidential Elections time period and then pasted that timeframe onto the 2024 election and found that the pattern is going along very similarly to Trump 1.0.
If we assume that the future unfolds the same as last time, which is low probability, of course, then the future will unfold as shown in the yellow bars going into the future, as shown.
Initially in 2016 post election there was a 7% rally in the U.S. Dollar Index and then a 15% retreat for the following year. So far in 2025 we have seen the same rally and a similar decline, but only faster this time.
It would appear as thought the bulk majority of the declines in the TVC:DXY are over at this time with perhaps 4% further downside over the balance of the year.
The Dollar Index has been useful for predicting changes in the earnings estimates for the S&P500 in the USA due to the high percentage of earnings coming back to the US for quarterly reporting. I have posted a few charts in the past which have been helpful at determining the risk in the stock market.
The behavior of the global central banks has certainly had its impact on monetary aggregates and inflation. The policy response since the Covid Pandemic has been for maximum liquidity and maximum Government spending to keep the global economy afloat. The post-Covid response is now coming to a head along with new policy directives to cut wasteful Government spending and to reduce inflation (caused the Gov't spending).
Global investors have flocked to the US for access to high technology stocks and have driven up the value of US assets to extreme levels compared to other markets. This adjustment phase where investors remove money from overvalued, or highly valued, US assets back to other markets has created a wave of selling in the US Dollar and US listed equities.
What does the future hold? We never know but we sure can learn from what happened in the past by looking at charts just like this one to see what may happen. Looks like a bounce in the TVC:DXY from here, followed by a new low and then a rebound into the next few years.
All the best,
Tim

S&P500 is Nearing an Important Support of 5,960!!!Hey Traders, in today's trading session we are monitoring US500 for a buying opportunity around 5,960 zone, US500 is trading in an uptrend and currently is in a correction phase in which it is approaching the trend at 5,960 support and resistance area.
Trade safe, Joe.
S&P 500 Index (SPX) Weekly TF – 2025
Chart Context:
Tools Used: 3 Fibonacci Tools:
1. One **Fibonacci retracement** (from ATH to bottom)
2. Two **Trend-Based Fibonacci Extensions**
* Key Levels and Zones:
* **Support Zone** (Fib Confluence): \~4,820–5,100
* **Support Area (shallow pullback)**: \~5,500–5,600
* **Resistance & TP Zones:**
* TP1: **6,450** (Fib confluence & -61.8%)
* TP2: **6,840** (-27%)
* TP3: **7,450–7,760** (Major Confluence)
Technical Observations:
* SPX is approaching a **critical resistance** near previous ATH (\~6,128) with projected upward trajectory.
* The **green dashed path** suggests a rally continuation from current \~6,000 levels to TP1 (\~6,450), TP2 (\~6,840), and eventually TP3 (\~7,450–7,760), IF no major macro shock hits.
* The **purple dotted path** suggests a potential retracement first to \~5,600 (shallow correction) or deeper into \~5,120 or even 4,820 zone before continuing the bullish rally.
* The major support zone around **4,820–5,120** includes key Fib retracement levels (38.2% and 61.8%) from both extensions and historical breakout levels.
Fundamental Context:
* US economy shows **resilience** amid soft-landing narrative, though inflation remains sticky.
* The **Federal Reserve** is expected to cut rates in **Q3–Q4 2025**, boosting equity valuations.
* Liquidity expansion and dovish outlook support risk assets, including **equities and crypto**.
* However, **AI-driven tech rally** may be overstretched; a correction could follow earnings disappointments or macro surprises (e.g., jobs or CPI shocks).
Narrative Bias & Scenarios:
**Scenario 1 – Correction Before Rally (Purple Path)**
* If SPX faces macro pushback (e.g., high CPI, hawkish Fed), expect retracement to:
* 5,600 = Fib -23.6% zone
* 5,120–4,820 = Major Fib Confluence Zone
* These would act as **accumulation zones**, setting up next leg up toward TP1 and beyond.
* **Effect on Gold**: May rise temporarily due to risk-off move.
* **Effect on Crypto**: Could stall or correct, especially altcoins.
**Scenario 2 – Straight Rally (Green Path)**
* If Fed confirms cuts and macro remains soft:
* SPX breaks ATH (\~6,128)
* Hits TP1 (\~6,450), TP2 (\~6,840)
* Eventually reaches confluence at **TP3 (7,450–7,760)**
* **Effect on Gold**: May struggle; investor preference for equities.
* **Effect on Crypto**: Strong risk-on appetite, altseason continuation.
Indicators Used:
* 3 Fibonacci levels (retracement + 2 extensions)
* Trendlines (macro and local)
* Confluence mapping
Philosophical/Narrative Layer:
This phase of the market resembles a test of collective confidence. Equity markets nearing ATHs while monetary easing begins reflect a fragile optimism. The Fibonacci levels act as narrative checkpoints — psychological as much as mathematical. Will we rally on faith or fall for rebalancing?
Bias & Strategy Implication:
Bias: Bullish with caution
* Strategy:
* Await **confirmation breakout >6,128** for fresh long entries
* Accumulate on dips in the **5,100–5,500** zone if correction unfolds
* Use **TP1, TP2, TP3** as staged exits

Tariffs, and Tumult: Wall Street Waits on Super WednesdayHello everyone, it’s April 30, 2025. The TVC:DJI just closed its sixth consecutive green session, with markets clinging to hope as rumors swirl of a first tariff deal—possibly with India—though nothing is confirmed. That tiny breadcrumb of optimism was enough to boost sentiment late in yesterday’s session, even if volatility is dipping below 25% and investor enthusiasm seems to be fading in lockstep.
U.S. macro data continues to paint a picture of “not great, but not terrible.” Consumer confidence and job openings (JOLTS) came in below expectations but not disastrously so, prompting markets to collectively shrug and declare everything “less worse than feared.” It’s a strategy now: ignore bad data as long as it isn’t apocalyptic.
As earnings roll in, companies are split between those who pretend the tariff storm is “manageable” (hello, NASDAQ:COKE ) and those flying blind through economic fog ( NYSE:UPS , Snap, and Super Micro—who might be losing a major client named Nvidia). The overall takeaway? Visibility is garbage, and most companies are bracing rather than building.
All eyes are now on today’s so-called Super Wednesday, packed with economic data (U.S. GDP, PCE, ADP jobs, Chicago PMI) and mega-earnings from NASDAQ:MSFT and NASDAQ:META . But as usual, expectations may outpace reality. Markets often dream of clarity and wake up to more noise.
Meanwhile, China flashed its first big red light: a manufacturing PMI of 49, signaling contraction—the lowest in two years. No shock, considering their ongoing trade war with the U.S., which seems to be giving the global economy the flu.
On the political front, Trump celebrated his 100 days in office with a campaign-style detour to Detroit, throwing shade at Fed Chair Jerome Powell while declaring the economy in perfect health (despite the worst market performance since Nixon’s early days). He promised tax cuts, again, while doubling down on trade threats. Powell, of course, is just trying to survive the week.
Oil briefly dipped under $60 as markets considered the broader implications of economic warfare, gold sits at $3,311, and Bitcoin hovers around $95,000—looking resilient despite the madness.
As for corporate earnings, Starbucks missed on sales due to weak U.S. demand, Pfizer beat on EPS but saw revenue fall, and Visa continues to rake in profits as Americans keep spending like inflation isn’t real. Novartis crushed it but got no love from the market because apparently, +22% net income just isn’t sexy enough.
In short: chaos remains king. Markets seem oddly calm on the surface, but under the hood, it’s still all about tariffs, Trump tweets, and the fantasy that maybe—just maybe—some clarity will come today. Don’t hold your breath.
Enjoy the ride, and see you tomorrow for more market mayhem.

relief pumpSeems like election bull was already priced in, new money got washed.
Bonds are making a comeback, cash is a position.
Expecting more downturn after a relief pump, coinciding with yields retracement.
Yields trending with equity price are usually signs of either economical expansion or economical fears, such as slowdown or recession, during up and downs. The markets just jumped from one narrative to the other:
expansion(trump gets in office) ---> slowdown(tariffs imposed)
I think the expansion narrative will take a while to settle back(end of Q2 at least) after all the executive orders signed.
Although, I'm still long for the month of March, nice opportunity for a relief pump, before resuming of slowdown narrative.
Lunar Signal Generator My Lunar signal generator uses a sinusoidal wave which is matched in frequency to the sinusoidal motion of the moon. The indicator is based on research which suggests that there are increased returns on days surrounding the new moon and decreased returns on days surrounding the full moon.
The indicator represents a two week trading strategy and prints buy signals before the new moon, and prints sell signals on the full moon. If used as a trading strategy the 5 & 10 year win rates are 70%, profitability is dependent on your choice of stoploss. I suggest a 9% Stoploss however this is discretionary. Can be used on any financial product, however it works best on large cap equities.
Just place on any chart, and trade according to the buy and sell signals

Lockheed Martin... We are moving! Pt.2Just like I drew it up, NYSE:LMT is approaching its Fair Value Gap faster and faster. With the defense spending kept in the public eye, investors seem bullish on Lockheed as reflected from its rise in share price. This rise in price also is reflected from Lockheed's competitors in the industry such as NYSE:NOC , NASDAQ:HON , NYSE:RTX , and other defense contractors such as NYSE:BA , NYSE:HII , and of course $NYSE:GD.
Before we attack the charts, let's review the general sentiment in the arms and defense (or offense) industry. Firstly, we are faced with constant uncertainty in the middle east and eastern Europe. With the conflict between Israel and Palestine, there is no doubt that any flare ups and scares will include U.S. involvement prompting higher revenues for defense industry leaders. As for the eastern European conflict between Russia and Ukraine, what appears to be a ceasefire closing in, there is no doubt that tensions and conflicts will continue through the region which we can expect the defense sector to be involved in. In a simpler sense, as conflict rises, investor interest in the defense sector can be expected to surge.
In the case of peace, we can expect the general indices to rise, but should expect some shedding from the defense industry as their services will be in lower demand . The good news in that scenario is a diversion of a larger scale war (which I'm sure your willing to take a 6% dive on your positions). So, if you are to believe that a peace and/or ceasefire will come of the negotiations, remaining long on this position is just not for you.
As for the current trade itself, I'll first review my main long entry and plans. My first post for this trade was on Feb. 11, 2025. Since then, it has returned an impressive 5.52% (even considering its very low 1y Beta). Even more impressive is the performance of the SP:SPX , TVC:NDQ , TVC:DJI , which have been -4.90%, -6.82%, -3.99% respectively. So in this instance, outperforming the main indices was a literal walk in the park as yours truly spelled the lottery ticket out for you.
And now for the charts....
Here is the NYSE:LMT 1D chart looking back into 2019. We can note the strong trendline, a price action rising towards the 200 EMA, and of course out beloved Fair Value Gap which has yet to see any price action although we are approaching it. As for the good news, the price action approaching two major technical factors which are in the same place at the same time (these being the 200 EMA and our beloved FVG). Ideally, we will hit these two technical targets prior to the next quarterly financial report on April 22.
Hopefully this update helped clear up any uncertainty. This position has been quite participating for anyone who took my trade and I'm glad to see us well into the green especially in times of market turmoil (no matter how minor it is). If you recall, I mentioned that I would be early to this trade (which I was) but I would have no problem with selling into the gain even if it shows no sign of slowing down. The poor man never takes profits.
Combined US Indexes - Breakdown and JittersMarked out previously, the US indexes broke down a tad earlier and retested to fail only to drop further based on jitters and jitter-induced expectations.
While the candlestick is long and solid pretty much, there is an extension zone to expect more of the downside to overreach and be oversold before a bounce.
You should be able to see that the Buy Setup is pretty much done and can expect a bounce reversal soon... but only after momentum ebbs and a base support is found.
Watch for it...
How to pick a benchmark for you portfolio and beat the market What is a benchmark?
A benchmark is an index or a basket of assets used to evaluate the performance of an investment portfolio In the context of portfolio analysis the benchmark serves as a point of comparison to determine whether a fund a strategy or an investment is performing better worse or in line with the reference market.
In the current chart, Bitcoin ( BINANCE:BTCUSDT ) is displayed with a solid and larger blue line in relation to other cryptocurrencies for the current period.
Benchmarks are essential tools for institutional and private investors as they allow measuring the effectiveness of asset allocation choices and risk management Additionally they help determine the added value of an active manager compared to a passive market replication strategy.
Benchmark analysis example: NASDAQ:TSLA - NASDAQ:NDX
Benchmark analysis example: NASDAQ:TSLA - NASDAQ:AAPL - NASDAQ:NDX
What is the purpose of a benchmark
The use of a benchmark in portfolio analysis has several objectives
1) Performance Evaluation: Provides a parameter to compare the portfolio's return against the market or other funds
2) Risk Analysis: Allows comparing the volatility of the portfolio against that of the benchmark offering a measure of risk management
3) Performance Attribution: Helps distinguish between returns derived from asset selection and those linked to market factors
4) Expectation Management: Supports investors and managers in assessing whether a portfolio is meeting expected return objectives
5) Strategy Control: If a portfolio deviates excessively from the benchmark it may signal the need to review the investment strategy
How to select an appropriate benchmark?
The choice of the correct benchmark depends on several factors:
1) Consistency with Portfolio Objective: The benchmark should reflect the market or sector in which the portfolio operates
2) Representativeness of Portfolio Assets: The benchmark should have a composition similar to that of the portfolio to ensure a fair comparison
3) Transparency and Data Availability: It must be easily accessible and calculated with clear and public methodologies
4) Stability Over Time: A good benchmark should not be subject to frequent modifications to ensure reliable historical comparison
5) Compatible Risk and Return: The benchmark should have a risk and return profile similar to that of the portfolio
Most used benchmarks
There are different benchmarks based on asset type and reference market Here are some of the most common.
Equity
FRED:SP500 Representative index of the 500 largest US companies.
NYSE:MSCI World Includes companies from various developed countries ideal for global strategies
FTSE:FTSEMIB Benchmark for the Italian stock market
NASDAQ:NDX Represents the largest technology and growth companies
Bonds
Barclays Global Aggregate Bond Index Broad benchmark for the global bond market
JP Morgan Emerging Market Bond Index EMBI Benchmark for emerging market debt
[* ]BofA Merrill Lynch US High Yield Index Representative of the high-yield bond market junk bonds
Mixed or Balanced
6040 Portfolio Benchmark 60 equities SP 500 and 40 bonds Bloomberg US Aggregate used to evaluate balanced portfolios
Morningstar Moderate Allocation Index Suitable for moderate-risk investment strategies
Alternative
HFRI Fund Weighted Composite Index Benchmark for hedge funds
Goldman Sachs Commodity Index GSCI Used for commodity-related strategies
Bitcoin Index CoinDesk BPI Benchmark for cryptocurrencies
A reference benchmark is essential in portfolio analysis to measure performance manage risk and evaluate investment strategies The selection of an appropriate benchmark must be consistent with the strategy and market of the portfolio to ensure meaningful comparison.
Understanding and correctly selecting the benchmark allows investors to optimize their decisions and improve long-term results.
Nvidia could still be seriously overvaluedIf the release of DeepSeek's AI models really is as disruptive as some suspect, Nvidia bulls could be seriously questioning if they want to hold onto the stock for the long haul. And that means some bulls could be looking to offload into a bounce while bears seek to fade into them. I highlight some key levels for bears to keep an eye on.
