FoldingCoin (FLDC) becomes a coin of interest again.Hi shitcoin lovers!
One of my favourite shitcoins from 2017, FoldingCoin, has bounced from it's historic low (2016 pivot) of 13 sat. In addition, monthly RSI is massively oversold with, so far, 9 straight months of steady decline. Stochastic RSI is dead.
Last year FLDC was delisted from Poloniex causing a run on the coin. Now it is only available on Bittrex. Daily volume is about $27,000 according to CMC.
If you are in the business of speculation, a small position here is worth it imo. I have no targets as yet. My strategy is simply hodl according to the maxim don't invest more than you care to lose!
Actually, I think FoldingCoin is one of the few cryptos that are useful in terms of what it does. It is intended to incentivise people to run Stanford University's folding@home software, which is citizen science type stuff: you give up some CPU time to number crunch for modelling diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer's and in return you receive some shitcoin.
There are currently almost 200 active science projects being supported by folders (apps foldingathome org/psummary). I guess many are postgrad or post doctoral projects.

Folding
An ideaI would like to create a token , or join in an effort to repurpose an existing one to incentivize what used to be altruistic use of blockchain technology in a manner similar to how owners of high end computers used to use and donate idle computer time with "Folding," helping Medical researchers , mainly teaching Universities to identify protein structures that would hopefully foment cures for the diseases like cancer that kill people and animals alike. Fast
Anyone with advice as to how to proceed , or who would like to support this idea is welcome to message me below for direct contact information.
This should have been done long ago.
It is a powerful use case in my humble opinion , and has potential. How many tokens out there are designed to help improve medicine, lives and families??
Blockchain and it's potential to revolutionize medicine Does anyone remember a project called "folding?" Major Medical Schools and think tanks were soliciting idle computing power from people on the internet toward the greater goal of medical discoveries via the nearly infinite iterations of protein structures and the differences in how they "folded."
It seems to me that blockchain technology, with so much math behind each coin and each transaction could be harnessed in the same way. This would likely require altruistic data mining , or the minting of a new coin - a currency with the potential to HELP in ways that go beyond the tabulation , collection and growth of wealth.
It would require in all likelihood a very specific algorithm which may or may not already exist. Miracles could be brought into place where thus far only digital currency , gaming , gaming currency , a browser and several other Dapps interesting enough for me to have never heard of them. While people used to DONATE idle computing time/power , in this age I believe it is already recognized that such time and power is a commodity that , sufficient to operate blockchain protocol require ASIC's and massive GPU crammed , dedicated hardware or at the very least my dream gaming rig running specific programs.
So..... my question is , when will the amazing mathematical power be applied towards such life saving ends?? Folding as it once was required a good computer and was often used in benchmarking applications.
It is time that a coin be minted to incentivize such endeavors , and in my estimation as the blockchain tech surrounding it is applied to these incredibly complex protein structures , and provided that medical breakthroughs are made based upon such an application, that the coin would without question appreciate in value , and re-define what "proof of work" means in the saving of human (and other) lives.
Just an idea.
Caveat emptor.
