Why You Should Avoid Trading XAUUSD on a USD Bank HolidayTrading XAUUSD (gold vs. the U.S. dollar) during a USD bank holiday is generally a bad idea due to reduced liquidity and unpredictable price movements. With U.S. banks and financial institutions closed, major market participants are absent, leading to lower trading volumes. This lack of liquidity can cause erratic price action, wider spreads, and unexpected volatility spikes, making it harder to execute trades at desired levels. Additionally, with fewer institutional traders influencing the market, technical patterns and key support/resistance levels may not hold as expected. Instead of taking unnecessary risks in an illiquid market, it’s often better to wait for normal trading conditions when price action is more reliable and spreads are tighter.

Trading in December. Everything You Need to Know
Because of the coming holidays, you are probably wondering should you trade in December at all and if yes, when should you stop and resume your trading.
In this article, I will share with you how I trade in December.
First, let me briefly explain to you how holidays, especially Christmas and New Year, affect the financial markets.
In many countries, Christmas and New Year's Day are official banking holidays. 🗓
In Europe, for example, December 24th, 25th, 26th and 31st are official banking holidays.
In the UK, the markets are officially closed December 25th and 26th.
While December 25th is the official banking holiday in the US.
When I trade I stick to the following rule: when there is a banking holiday in US, UK or EU I don't place any trade in that exact day.
However, with winter holidays it is a bit different.
I always skip the entire Christmas week - from 25th to 30th of December , because even though many markets remain opened, they are hardly moving and very slow.
You should also be very careful, trading the third week of December.
Till Wednesday, I trade in a normal schedule.
The presence of various important fundamentals in the economic calendar (especially the US ones), indicates potential volatility and nice movements on the markets.
With many years of experience, I noticed that trading volumes start falling since Thursday. And on Friday in many countries there are early bank closes or banking holidays like in New Zealand.
So my advice is, close all your trades on Wednesday 20th in the middle of NY session and stop trading.
📝 Here is the plan: we trade in a normal schedule the first half of December and then all the trades are closed, and we are enjoying holidays.
And when should you resume trading?
Again, here is a constant debate among traders. My take is to resume trading from the third week of January.

Quick bitcoin update - Chop Neutrality aheadOverall I am not liking the current trading environment regarding bitcoins price action.
I can see the next week start to heat up as we look to break this ascending wedge, but until then I don't really see a reason to try to trade this sideways action. Be patient and the plays will come.
Right now is the time to evaluate potential setups in Bitcoin and the overall ALTcoin market, I will be posting my thoughts as the week goes on. This next week could be pivotal for the market so make sure to set alerts At the specified price targets listed.
Price Areas I am watching out for.
A dip below the diagonal at $36,572- $37,451.
A break above the horizontal Fib level .382 at $38,104
Set alerts for both of these areas. A break below likely means a decline on the way pre-Christmas, a break above and I think our next targets will quickly be broken.
Be aware though as it is the holiday season we may see some price decline as people withdraw gains to pay for gifts and vacations, on the other hand, the holidays generally mean people bragging to their family about gains. So this could lead to a post-Christmas pump fairly easily as new capital floods the market.

DON'T TRADE ON HOLIDAYS | 4 Crucial Reasons Explained
In this educational article, we will discuss why is it recommendable not to trade during the holidays season.
🏦 The main source of problems comes from the fact that the big market players like banks, hedge funds and investing firms are absent. Similarly to ordinary people, bankers and investors prefer to spend the holidays with their relatives and friends instead of staring at charts on Christmas Eve.
But how does it affect the market? Big players are the main source of the market liquidity. The liquidity itself is the measure to which an asset can be quickly bought or sold in the market at a price of its quotes. Therefore, when the big players are missing, the market liquidity drops.
1️⃣ That fact instantly reflects in the market spreads. They become substantially bigger, directly increasing the costs of each trade and making it problematic to open a position at a desired price.
2️⃣ Secondly, low liquidity leads to a decrease in volatility. The market becomes weak and indecisive.
As traders, we make the money on market moves. Our goal is to catch a bullish or a bearish wave. Their absence deprives us of profits or, at least, dramatically decreases them.
3️⃣ Thirdly, when the liquidity is low, even small market participants can move the market. It dramatically increases the probabilities of false signals. Relatively low trading volumes may manipulate the market, substantially decreasing the efficiency of technical and fundamental analysis.
4️⃣ The increased costs of trading, low volatility and manipulations should have convinced you to stay from charts during the holidays season. However, the main reason to not trade on holidays is much simpler. Holidays give you an opportunity to stay with your family, to take a break, to recharge and relax. Even a part-time trading is very exhausting and requires a constant attention. Let yourself be distracted and return after holidays.
I wish you a great holidays season, traders!

We wish you a Merry Christmas!🌟
Dear traders,
This year we faced a lot of obstacles and problems. For many, this year was phenomenally hard.
There is a famous quote by Marcus Aurelius “The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”
In any obstacle, there is an opportunity. What we should be doing, we should look at every obstacle that we face as an opportunity for us to grow and to make us stronger so that we can turn that into an opportunity. Every obstacle is the way forward.
I wish you all a lot of opportunities next year.
Merry Christmas!!!🌟

I hope you enjoy my chartwork (the Christmas tree is brought to you by the shooting star 🌟 pattern on Carvana's quarterly chart).
As I reflect on this challenging past year, I thought I would post a few of the lessons I have learned trading and investing over the years.
Trading
Always manage risk by using a stop loss. Consider the asset's Average True Range (ATR) on the timeframe you're trading on. If the distance from your entry price to your stop-loss price is less than the ATR, then your trade is likely to fail (stop loss triggered) simply due to normal volatility.
If feasible, consider hiding your stop loss under large buy orders using level II market data.
Avoid trading on assets with low volume or assets with wide bid-ask spreads.
Consider the tax implications of your trades and consider developing a trading strategy that avoids triggering or minimizes the effect of the wash sale rule. For more trading tips you can read my post linked below.
Investing
Always manage risk by diversifying portfolio holdings. Consider holding a wide array of uncorrelated assets or a broad array of low-fee ETFs, REITs, and/or mutual funds.
When available, always opt to automatically reinvest dividends. This strategy works for investing (not trading) because most assets preserve wealth better over time than holding cash. Buying more and more of an asset over time compounds growth.
Consider the tax implications of your investments. Consider maximizing your investment's growth by using tax-sheltered accounts (IRAs and HSAs) and harvesting tax losses in taxable brokerage accounts.
Only invest in assets that, when adjusted for dividends, move up in price at a faster rate than that which the money supply grows. To determine whether an asset achieves this, compare the asset as a ratio to the money supply. For more details, you can read my post linked below.
These are just a few of the many lessons I have learned over the years. I have dozens of pages of tips and lessons learned in my Trading & Investing Notebook. I encourage everyone to keep a notebook.
