Trading on Holidays: Liquidity and Spreads
When trading forex, it's essential to check spreads, especially during holidays.
Trading forex during holidays can be a bit more challenging due to reduced liquidity in the market.
Liquidity refers to the ease with which assets can be bought or sold without causing a significant change in price. During holidays, liquidity can be lower as many traders and financial institutions take time off, leading to fewer participants in the market.
Lower liquidity can directly impact the spread, which is the difference between the bid and ask price of a currency pair. In times of reduced liquidity, spreads tend to widen, meaning the difference between the buying and selling price of a currency pair increases. This can lead to higher trading costs for traders, as wider spreads require a larger price movement in the underlying asset before a trade becomes profitable.
It's essential for traders to be aware of these potential spread increases during holidays to avoid unexpected trading costs.
Additionally, wider spreads can also lead to slippage , where a trade is executed at a different price than expected. This can further impact trading results, especially during fast-moving markets with low liquidity.
Therefore, checking spreads during holidays is crucial for forex traders to anticipate potential increases in trading costs and adjust their trading strategies accordingly.
On TradingView, you can check the spreads in the top left corner. There you can find bid, ask prices and the spread between them.
It's important to factor in the impact of wider spreads on profitability and risk management when trading during these periods. By staying informed about spread changes during holidays, traders can make more informed decisions and better navigate the challenges of lower liquidity in the forex market.

Trading in December. Everything You Need to Know
Because of the coming holidays, you are probably wondering should you trade in December at all and if yes, when should you stop and resume your trading.
In this article, I will share with you how I trade in December.
First, let me briefly explain to you how holidays, especially Christmas and New Year, affect the financial markets.
In many countries, Christmas and New Year's Day are official banking holidays. 🗓
In Europe, for example, December 24th, 25th, 26th and 31st are official banking holidays.
In the UK, the markets are officially closed December 25th and 26th.
While December 25th is the official banking holiday in the US.
When I trade I stick to the following rule: when there is a banking holiday in US, UK or EU I don't place any trade in that exact day.
However, with winter holidays it is a bit different.
I always skip the entire Christmas week - from 25th to 30th of December , because even though many markets remain opened, they are hardly moving and very slow.
You should also be very careful, trading the third week of December.
Till Wednesday, I trade in a normal schedule.
The presence of various important fundamentals in the economic calendar (especially the US ones), indicates potential volatility and nice movements on the markets.
With many years of experience, I noticed that trading volumes start falling since Thursday. And on Friday in many countries there are early bank closes or banking holidays like in New Zealand.
So my advice is, close all your trades on Wednesday 20th in the middle of NY session and stop trading.
📝 Here is the plan: we trade in a normal schedule the first half of December and then all the trades are closed, and we are enjoying holidays.
And when should you resume trading?
Again, here is a constant debate among traders. My take is to resume trading from the third week of January.

1. Educate Yourself:
Before diving into day trading, it is crucial to understand the intricacies of the forex and gold markets. Take the time to learn about the basic terminology, technical analysis, fundamental analysis, and different trading strategies. Knowledge is your best weapon in this realm. 📚✍️📈
Start by reading books, attending webinars or courses, or even joining online trading communities to gain insight into successful day trading techniques.
2. Practice with a Demo Account:
To avoid unnecessary losses, it is highly recommended to practice trading using a demo account. This allows you to gain hands-on experience without the risk of losing real money. Take the time to experiment with different strategies and understand how the market works. 📊📝💡
Tradingview paper trading offers demo accounts where you can simulate real trading scenarios and test your skills.
3. Develop a Trading Plan:
A well-defined trading plan is essential for any day trader. Specify your goals, risk tolerance, and trading style. Determine the maximum amount you are willing to risk per trade and set realistic profit targets. Stick to your plan and avoid impulsive decisions. 📝🎯💼
Example: Decide on a risk-to-reward ratio, such as 1:2, which means you are willing to risk $1 to potentially earn $2, and only take trades that meet this criteria.
4. Manage Your Risks:
Risk management is a crucial aspect of day trading. Never risk more than you can afford to lose and always set stop-loss orders to limit potential losses. It is important to maintain a disciplined approach to preserve your capital. 💪💸📉
Example: Let's say you have $10,000 as your trading capital. Set a maximum loss limit per trade, such as $200, and ensure your stop-loss order reflects this limit.

NasDaQ's New Highs & Next MoveNasdaq pushed up pass July's highest price last week. We want to keep an eye on it this week to see if there will be more buys to push price higher.
The only thing that can invalidate this setup is if the inside bar's or past sellers attempt to push the market down fails.
What do you think will happen next? Will the buyers keep price going or will the sellers come in strong?

Learn 2 Essential Elements of Trading
In the today's post, we will discuss how trading is structured , and I will share with you its 2 key milestones.
Trading with its nuances and complexities can be explained as the interconnections of two processes: trading rules creation and trading rules following.
1️⃣ With the trading rules, you define what you will trade and how exactly, classifying your entry and exist conditions, risk and trade management rules. Such a set of consistent trading rules compose a trading strategy.
For example, you can have a following trading plan:
you trade only gold, you analyze the market with technical analysis,
you buy from a key support and sell from a key resistance on a daily, your entry confirmation is a formation of a reversal candlestick pattern.
You set stop loss above the high/low of the pattern, and your target is the closest support/resistance level.
Here is how the trading setup would look like.
In the charts above, all the conditions for the trade are met, and the market nicely reached the take profit.
2️⃣ Trading strategy development is a very simple process. You can find hundreds of different ones on the internet and start using one immediately.
The main obstacle comes, however, with Following Trading Rules.
Following the rules is our second key milestone. It defines your ability to stay disciplined and to stick to your trading plan.
It implies the control of emotions, patience and avoidance of rationalization.
Once you open a trade, following your rules, challenges are just beginning. Imagine how happy you would feel yourself, seeing how nicely gold is moving to your target after position opening.
And how your mood would change, once the price quickly returns to your entry.
Watching how your profits evaporate and how the initially winning position turns into a losing one, emotions will constantly intervene.
In such situations, many traders break their rules, they start adjusting tp or stop loss or just close the trading, not being able to keep holding.
The ability to follow your system is a very hard skill to acquire. It requires many years of practicing. So if you believe that a good trading strategy is what you need to make money, please, realize the fact that even the best trading strategy in the world will lose without consistency and discipline.

Learn the 3 TYPES of MARKET ANALYSIS
In the today's post, we will discuss 3 types of analysis of a financial market.
🛠1 - Technical Analysis
Technical analysis focuses on price action, key levels, technical indicators and technical tools for the assessment of a market sentiment.
Pure technician thoroughly believes that the price chart reflects all the news, all the actions of big and small players. With a proper application of technical strategies, technical analysts make predictions and identify trading opportunities.
In the example above, the trader applies price action patterns, candlestick analysis, key levels and 2 technical indicators to make a prediction that the market will drop to a key horizontal support from a solid horizontal resistance.
📰2 - Fundamental Analysis
Fundamental analysts assess the key factors and related data that drive the value of an asset.
These factors are diverse: it can be geopolitical events, macro and micro economic news, financial statements, etc.
Fundamental traders usually make trading decision and forecasts, relying on fundamental data alone and completely neglecting a chart analysis.
Price action on Gold on a daily time frame could be easily predicted, applying a fundamental analysis.
A bearish trend was driven by FED Interest Rates tightening program,
while a strong bullish rally initiated after escalation of Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
📊🔬 3 - Combination of Technical and Fundamental Analysis
Such traders combine the principles of both Technical and Fundamental approaches.
When they are looking for trading opportunities, they analyze the price chart and make predictions accordingly.
Then, they analyze the current related fundamentals and compare the technical and fundamental biases.
If the outlooks match, one opens a trading position.
In the example above, Gold reached a solid horizontal daily support.
Testing the underlined structure, the price formed a falling wedge pattern and a double bottom, breaking both a horizontal neckline and a resistance of the wedge.
These were 2 significant bullish technical confirmation.
At the same time, the escalation of Israeli-Palestinian conflict left a very bullish fundamental confirmation.
It is an endless debate which method is better.
Each has its own pros and cons.
I strongly believe that one can make money mastering any of those.
Just choose the method that you prefer, study it, practice and one day you will make it.

How to Improve Trading ResultsHey, traders! The market is bullish now and let's talk about how we can improve our results in all cycles of the market. There are several factors that can enhance your trading results: your system, psychology, risk management, hobbies, the right environment, and healthy habits. Working on these variables will undoubtedly bring you closer to your trading goals.
However, there's another factor that is often overlooked, and that's income unrelated to trading. It's essential to discuss this.
Relying solely on trading income, especially in the early stages, can create unnecessary pressure. Diversifying your income sources will allow you to approach the trading process more consciously.
I know many profitable traders, and almost all of them have additional income sources, such as paid communities, educational endeavors, businesses, real estate, or traditional jobs. No one relies solely on trading.
Why does this happen?
First and foremost, your knowledge about the market doesn't always translate into profits. You might make a quick buck by speculating on an illiquid asset that suddenly skyrockets, but this approach won't bring consistent profits in the long term.
Lucky traders often give back their gains and end up with nothing. Smarter traders invest in assets that generate income regardless of market conditions and their psychological state.
Diverse income sources can provide a sense of security and confidence in everyday life and when making trading decisions.
Having a bad trading month? No problem. Losses can be covered by income from other areas. Your basic needs can be met with steady income, while trading serves its primary purpose — long-term capital growth.
Since I diversified my income sources (one of them being this channel), my trading results have significantly improved. The pressure has eased, and the quality of my trades has increased.
Now, I'm not tied to my charts for 40-hour workweeks. I trade when I want to. Trading has transformed from a pursuit of profit to a search for opportunities. I only enter a trade when I see a genuine opportunity.
Take today as a starting point. You probably have some source of income that covers your basic needs. I understand it might not be the most glamorous income, and you might want to improve your quality of life right now.
Don't rush to give it up in favor of trading, even if you're confident in your trading skills. Take your time and establish an additional source of stable income. Look at trading as a springboard to help you reach your goals faster. Don't put all your capital in one place. Think about the future and develop multiple income streams. Increase your profits and enhance your emotional well-being.
You can have a deep understanding of trading concepts, but when your life depends entirely on trading, it can be challenging to apply that knowledge due to immense pressure.
80% of your success in trading comes from psychology and risk management. You need a strong mental state to open quality positions without overwhelming yourself.
The best way to achieve this state is to make trading "one of" your income sources, not your "only" income source.
The Art of False Breakouts + RSI: COMPOUND! 📉🚀Trading is an intricate game of psychology, and understanding false breakouts can be the key to success. Let's delve into COMP, where false breakouts played a pivotal role in recent price action. 📉🚀
Closer look to Fakeout :
Deconstructing False Breakouts
False breakouts are like crafty illusions, luring traders into making premature decisions.
COMP, a cryptocurrency known for its volatility, recently demonstrated how these maneuvers can shake the market.
From False Bottom to False Top
COMP first tricked traders with a false breakdown from the lower range, inducing panic.
But as if by sleight of hand, it quickly shifted gears, delivering a false breakout from the upper range, catching many off guard.
Trading Wisdom: The Lesson Here
The case of COMP underscores the need for cautious trading, especially in volatile markets. Recognizing false breakouts can help you avoid unnecessary losses.
Strategies involving stop-loss orders and thorough research can be your shield against these tricky moves.
Conclusion: Mind the Illusions
COMP's recent shenanigans emphasize the significance of identifying false breakouts. This knowledge can give traders a substantial advantage and help them navigate the turbulent waters of crypto trading.

Trading Secrets Revealed: Mindset Shift from Beginner to Expert
In the today's post, we will discuss the evolution of a mindset of a trader as he matures in trading.
✔️Beginner
For some unknown reasons, beginners assume that a couple of educational videos and books about trading is more than enough to start trading successfully.
They believe that they got a comprehensive knowledge and that very few things remain to learn.
They start trading, but quickly realize that their knowledge is not enough to make even small gains.
✔️COMPETENT
After practicing a couple of years, traders come to the conclusion
that they know everything in that field. That they learned, tested and tried all concepts and techniques that are available.
They consider themselves to be the experts in the field BUT
for some unknown reasons, these traders still are not able to trade profitably.
✔️EXPERT
After many years of learning, training and practicing, eyes finally open.
Traders realize how limited is their knowledge and how much more there is to learn.
While they already have the skills to trade in profits, they understand now that even the entire life is not enough to learn all the subtleties of trading.
And here is a little lifehack for you:
if you are a beginner, embrace a mindset of an expert.
Start from realizing how little you actually know and how much more there is to know, that will help you a lot in your trading journey.
The Triangles. With Real-Life Examples.Today, let's back to fairly good known triangle shapes: Symmetrical, Ascending, Descending and Broadening Triangles.
Triangle chart patterns provide valuable insights into market dynamics, representing a battle between buyers and sellers within a narrowing price range. These patterns are often categorized as continuation or neutral patterns indicating that the price is likely to continue its existing trend after the pattern completes.
1. Symmetrical Triangle:
A symmetrical triangle occurs when the slope of the price's highs and lows converge, forming a triangular shape. This pattern signifies a period of consolidation, with lower highs and higher lows indicating a balance between buyers and sellers. As the slopes converge, a breakout becomes imminent, although the direction of the breakout is uncertain.
To take advantage of a symmetrical triangle, we can place entry orders above the slope of the lower highs and below the slope of the higher lows, prepared to ride the price in the direction of the breakout.
2. Descending Triangle:
In contrast to the ascending triangle, a descending triangle consists of lower highs forming the upper line, with a strong support level acting as the lower line. Sellers gain ground against buyers, and in most cases, the support line eventually breaks, leading to a continued downward move.
To trade a descending triangle, we can set entry orders above the upper line (lower highs) and below the support line, prepared for a potential breakout. However, it's important to note that in some instances, the support line may hold, resulting in a strong upward move.
3. Ascending Triangle:
An ascending triangle features a resistance level and a slope of higher lows. Buyers gradually push the price up, testing the resistance level. This pattern often signals a breakout to the upside, as buyers gain strength and attempt to break through the resistance.
To trade an ascending triangle, we can set entry orders above the resistance line and below the slope of the higher lows, ready for a potential upward breakout. However, it's important to remain open to movement in either direction, as sometimes the resistance level may prove too strong.
4. Broadening Triangle:
Now, let's dive into the intriguing Broadening Triangle, also known as a Megaphone Pattern. This pattern stands out due to its expanding price range, creating a unique visual pattern on the chart.
The Megaphone Pattern consists of a series of higher highs and lower lows, causing the price range to widen over time. This pattern reflects increasing volatility and uncertainty in the market, with both buyers and sellers actively participating.
To approach Triangle patterns effectively:
1️⃣ Pay attention to the pattern's boundaries: Identify the upper trendline connecting the highs and the lower trendline connecting the lows. These trendlines define the range of price movement within the pattern.
2️⃣ Watch for breakouts and reversals: Triangles often precedes significant price movements. We can look for breakouts above the upper trendline or breakdowns below the lower trendline as potential trading opportunities.
3️⃣ Confirm with additional indicators: Combine your analysis with other technical indicators or tools to validate your trading decisions. Consider using indicators like moving averages, oscillators, or volume analysis to confirm the pattern's potential direction.
Remember, trading the Triangles requires careful analysis and risk management. It's important to consider the overall market context, fundamental factors, and other technical signals to make informed trading decisions.
Wishing you successful trading journeys guided by these fascinating patterns! 🚀📈✨

Learn 6 Common Beginner Trading Mistakes
In the today's post, we will discuss very common beginner's mistakes in trading that you should avoid.
1. No trading plan 📝
That is certainly the TOP 1 mistake. I don't know why it happens but 99% of newbies assume that they don't need a trading plan.
It is more than enough for them to watch a couple of educational videos, read some books about trading and Voilà when a good setup appears they can easily recognize and trade it without a plan.
Guys, I guarantee you that you will blow your trading account in maximum 2 months if you keep thinking like that. Trading plan is the essential part of every trading approach, so build one and follow that strictly.
2. Overtrading 💱
That mistake comes from a common newbies' misconception: they think that in order to make money in trading, they should trade a lot. The more they trade, the higher are the potential gains.
Same reasoning appears when they choose a signal service: the more trades a signal provider shares, the better his signals are supposed to be.
However, the truth is that good trades are very rare and your goal as a trader is to recognize and trade only the best setups. While the majority of the trading opportunities are risky and not profitable.
3. Emotional trading 😤
There are 2 ways to make a trading decision: to make it objectively following the rules of your trading plan or to follow the emotions.
The second option is the main pick of the newbies.
The intuition, fear, desire are their main drivers. And such an approach is of course doomed to a failure.
And we will discuss the emotional trading in details in the next 2 sections.
4. Having no patience ⏳
Patience always pays. That is the trader's anthem.
However, in practice, it is extremely hard to keep holding the trade that refuses to reach the target, that comes closer and closer to a stop loss level, that stuck around the entry level.
Once we are in a trade, we want the price to go directly to our goal without any delay. And the more we wait, the harder it is to keep waiting. The impatience makes traders close their trades preliminary, missing good profits.
5. Greed 🤑
Greed is your main and worst enemy in this game.
It will pursue you no matter how experienced you are.
The desire to get maximum from every move, to not miss any pip of profit, will be your permanent obstacle.
Greed will also pursue you after you close the profitable trades. No matter how much you win, how many good winning trades you catch in a row, you always want more. And that sense main lead you to making irrational, bad trading decision.
6. Big Risks 🛑
Why to calculate lot size for the trade?
Why even bother about risk management?
These are the typical thoughts of the newbies.
Newbie traders completely underestimate the risks involved in trading and for that reason they are risking big.
I heard so many times these stories, when a trading deposit of a trader is wiped out with a one single bad trade.
Never ever risk big, especially if you just started.
Start with a very conservative approach and risk a tiny little portion of your trading account per trade.
Of course there are a lot more mistakes to discuss.
However, the ones that I listed above at the most common
and I am kindly recommending you to fix them before you start trading with a substantial amount of money.

📈 Charting Lesson: What do I even look for in a chart?!Full-time trader here. Sharing some knowledge for free . If this helps you, show some love: follow me for more and like this idea. 👍
Why do I need a chart anyway?
First, we need to convince you of why you need a chart. No problem. Let's say you're a fundamental analysis investor. The stock has to make sense. The stock has to last forever. It needs to be a growth stock. Let's say... NASDAQ:AAPL NASDAQ:GOOG NASDAQ:NVDA NASDAQ:TSLA is a good example over the last few years. Now that you found a good candidate, when are you going to buy? At an all-time high? At an all-time low? One share a day? One share a week? No. Buying a stock without looking at the chart is like driving with a blindfold. Don't do it.
Pull up a chart.
Observe past price action.
Try to find a trend.
Plan your entry.
Do this even if you're going to hold for 20 years.
When I pull up a chart, what do I look for? I just see a bunch of lines.
Let's first make sure you are looking at the correct view. On the top left corner of your screen, you'll see your user icon. Next to it is the ticker. Next to it is the interval. Next to THAT is the chart type. Make sure you select "CANDLES". Not "hollow candles". Here's how it should look:
Mine may look a bit different because I changed my theme. But the candles is what we care about.
Now the juicy part.
Support and Resistance are Key Reversal Levels.
When you open a chart, the first thing you want to do is look for areas where the price has reached in the past and reversed or got rejected or bounced. For example, every time SPY reached 443.37 in the chart above, it reversed. Let's call this a, "key level".
If the price is ABOVE that key level, the line is called SUPPORT.
If the price is BELOW that key level, the line is called RESISTANCE.
Using the horizontal line tool, make sure you have these key support and resistance levels on your chart. Try to ONLY buy near support and sell near resistance.
If the stock is choppy, do your best. If you can't, skip it and go to another stock. There's thousands!
Stocks, Currencies, and Cryptos Move in Trends. Up or Down.
Next, try to find a "trend". A trend is something where if you connect the dots, the price jumps right from that straight line.
Pull out your trendline tool and try to connect some dots. Don't go through any candle bodies. Going through wicks is okay. It's actually recommended.
Three touches are required to make a valid trendline. If you see only TWO touches? Is the price going TOWARDS the trendline if you were to extend it? There's a good chance it's going to head towards that TL and bounce! Good job. You found a good trade potential.
Identify Reversal or Continuation Patterns.
Look for known patterns. In the example above, there is a "head and shoulders" pattern. This is a bearish reversal pattern.
Know that not all patterns will come true.
It's good to know the overall signal the market is giving.
If every trader sees it, it's likely not going to happen.
In the above example, a looming H/S pattern is scary given already bad economic conditions and recession/ inflation worries. In this case, the market may be trying to tell you something.
Understand that these patterns are not just nice-looking drawings on a chart. They work because they display some sort of buyer/ seller psychology.
I will post more examples of known patterns on my TradingView profile soon. Be sure to follow if you want to learn more.
If you benefitted from this, you are welcome to follow me, comment any questions, or share this with your friends. Good knowledge should be free. I'll post more insight soon. Thank you for reading and for your continued support. 👍

Learn What Time Frame to Trade
If you just started trading, you are probably wondering how to choose a trading time frame . In the today's post, I will go through the common time frames , and explain when to apply them.
1m; 5m, 15m Time Frames
These 4 t.f's are very rapid and are primarily applied by scalpers.
If your goal is to catch quick ebbs and flows within a trading session, that is a perfect selection for you.
30m, 1H Time Frame
These 2 are perfectly suited for day traders.
Executing the analysis and opening the trades on these time frames,
you will be able to catch the moves within a trading day.
4h, Daily Time Frames
These time frames are relatively slow.
They are mostly applied by swing traders, who aim to trade the moves that last from several days to several weeks.
Weekly, Monthly Time Frames
These time frames reveal long-term historical perspective and are mostly used by investors and position traders.
If your goal is to look for buy & hold assets, these time frames will help you to make a reasonable decision.
📝When you are choosing a time frame to trade, consider the following factors :
1️⃣ - Time Availability
How much time daily/weekly are you able to sacrifice on trading?
Remember a simple rule: lower is the time frame, more time it requires for management.
2️⃣ - Risk Tolerance
Smaller time frames usually involve higher risk,
while longer-term time frames are considered to be more conservative and stable.
3️⃣ - Your Trading Goals
If you are planning to benefit from short term price fluctuations you should concentrate your attention on lower time frames,
while investing and long-term capital accumulation suite for higher time frames.
Time frame selection is nuanced and a complex topic. However, I believe that these simple rules and factors will help you to correctly choose the one for you.
