Caterpillar’s High Basing PatternCaterpillar began the year with a strong rally before entering an extended pause. But now some traders may think the Dow Jones Industrial Average member is ready to start moving again.
The first pattern on today’s chart is the low in June, the lower low in August and this month’s higher low. That’s a potential high basing pattern that may suggest new support has been established after a period of consolidation. It’s also noteworthy to see that occur above the previous highs from 2023.
Second is the falling trendline along the peaks of April and May. The earth-moving stock has spent a lot of time since June pushing through that line. Is intermediate-term resistance finally giving way?
Third, prices have held the rising 200-day simple moving average (SMA). That may reflect a bullish longer-term trend.
Turning to the shorter-term, our 2 MA Ratio custom script shows how the 8-day exponential moving average (EMA) has crossed above the 21-day EMA.
Finally, you have the price zone around $363. It was the close on April 24 before CAT gapped lower on earnings and resistance in July. Traders could now potentially view it as the trigger for a breakout.

Points of Interest on BITCOIN before FOMCI'm watching the price action closely today as we approach the CME gap at $61.5k.
We have not yet taken the previous high on the CME chart. The gap is still open a little bit. We've also accumulated some liquidity at about $57.2k. It is also wednesday, which is know for it's trend reversal.
Nikkei future coiling up for an explosive break?Nikkei futures look like a market where bulls and bears are waging war, all while the price continues to coil up within a symmetrical triangle, waiting for a potential explosive break.
The sizeable wicks on the daily candles suggests the collective market hasn’t made up its mind yet, although having entered the triangle from above, the inclination is that directional risks are biased lower. It’s also noteworthy that down days are often accompanied by stronger volumes, suggesting bears marginally have the upper hand. RSI (14) and MACD continue to generate bearish signals on momentum.
While I see more downside risk than upside, I’m not wedded to the view. Depending on what the Fed does with interest rates, and the subsequent reaction in the Japanese yen, the picture could easily change. My gut feel is the yen will be more influential on Japanese stocks than the lead from Wall Street, so that will help determine the higher probability setup.
A 50-pointer from the Fed would likely create downside pressure on USD/JPY, amplifying headwinds for the Nikkei. A 25-pointer would likely do the opposite.
If we see a downside break of the triangle, 35120 is the first level of note. Below that, 33750 has been respected on numerous occasions in recent years, making that a potential target.
If we were to see the price break out of the triangle on the topside, 36875 has acted as both support and resistance recently. Beyond that, the former uptrend will provide a test with a break above that opening the door for a move to the 50 and 200-day moving averages.
Good luck!

MU: Micron Inc death crossThe purpose is to analyze DEATH CROSS impact on MU day chart. It is remarkable that this time a death cross print is almost simultaneously by both 50&200 EMA and 50&200 SMA with a lag of just one day. As a rule, I look for a death cross whichever moving average pair print it earlier, as the other pair would be typically too late to the show (it can be 'either or' depending on magnitude of most recent price actions for EMA pair).
This time both pairs print it simultaneously and I would argue that this time both are REMARKABLY late! As a matter of proof, I analyzed RELATIVE slope of MU bear markets that with a death cross, versus percentage the price had yet to retreat since the death cross print day until bottomed.
There were approximately few of them (scroll back the chart to certain periods indicated below).
November’14 – February’16 ~65%
May’18 – December’18 ~32%
April’21 – October’21 ~12%
January’22 – September’22 ~30%
And current June’24 – September’24 ???
On the right hand side of the chart, relative slopes of each bear market trendline are given. Looking at a relative steepness and rapidness of the June – September decline comparing to past periods, I would consider that this time both pairs of moving averages are lagging way behind and the death cross is too late to the show to indicate any extra percentage of price decline. i.e. the stock has bottomed and is already in upswing.
The only Range you need for BitcoinTake the high and take the low. We are about to approach the red line. The middle of the range, which I think will serve as resistance. We could move to $61.4k by Wednesday, but the FOMC will shake the markets a bit then. On Friday, it will also be interesting to see if the Bank of Japan decides to raise rates.
