PNB INVESTMENT AND SWING TRADE OUTLOOKPunjab National Bank (PNB) has been in a downtrend for over a decade. With 5 downside waves being completed and the Public sector slowly getting some momentum I think its time for PNB to shine.

Long term trade (investment) - Buy above 47 for minimum targets of 100 to 227 or even higher. Stoploss will be around 25.

PNB Analysis Positional March 2021Refer to chart for more details. PNB forming the head and shoulder pattern, on the otherhand has kept the support line accelerated. Breakout with strong momentum on both side may lead to a market move, but direction is highly unpredictable. Please keep these support and resistane levels handy.

Punjab National BankThe stock analysis was carried out on Feb 9 in response to a question asked on a social media platform and thereafter it has rallied. Read the reasons behind the pick below.
PNB shares appear to be the better option amongst PSU Banks.
Reasons supporting the pick:
1. Second largest PSU Bank in terms of market capitalisation.
2. PNB’s merger with United Bank of India and Oriental Bank of Commerce has improved the PAT (profit after tax) for three straight quarters of FY21 i.e 538 cr. in Q1, 576 cr. in Q2 and 747 cr. in Q3. NII has been improved by over 80% on a YoY basis for Q3.
3. FII’s holding has increased from ~1% to ~4% which signals a strong bullish bias towards the bank. Huge volumes of shares are being traded for close to 7 trading sessions
4. Government of India’s emphasis on Privatisation of PSU’s will leave a lesser count of PSU Banks in India and PNB is expected to remain on the PSU Bankside.
5. Stock is trading/consolidating in a lifetime low trajectory of 26–39 for close to a year now. The all-time high of the stock is 279.8 which is far away from the current levels. Therefore keeping the range of 26–39 as a strong base, the stock has only one way to move i.e up.
6. Technically speaking, the stock is trading at 0.64 times its book value and appears to be undervalued given the above-mentioned reasons.
The stock has a strong resistance zone at 40.55–42.80 and a strong support zone at 32.50-34.50 levels and hence perfect time to invest would be when the price is close to the support level or breaks the resistance zone i.e above 42.80.
The first target for the stock would be 53+ and the second target would be 70+ in months to come.
Refer to the chart for levels.
Invest and forget, it might give some surprising returns.

PNB - ( Punbaj National Bank ) - Payment Now Begins :)Whether the perpetrator of fraud is coming back or not, you can have your share back from PNB ( Punjab National Bank ). Finally after putting a base near Rs 70, it is turning a corner. I have accumulated between 70 - 90 range during the downfall and now looking forward to reap the rewards.
Hopefully, election optimism rally in Indian stocks along will push the beleaguered bank above 100 level. Initially I am looking for 120 - 140 range so let's see.
For India, I usually stick with my list of 15/20 stocks and hardly move outside those ( comparatively not easy to manipulate kind of ) stocks. But PNB was kind of juicy opportunity and couldn't resist to dabble in it. Thesis to buy was simple based on following assumptions,
1) Indian government can't let a bank go out of business due to such blatantly outrageous fraud which they must have detected much earlier ( not just detected but could have prevented ;) )
2) If bank has sufficient funds to cover and if it is not going out of business then, ultimately stock will recover :). But yes, finding the bottoming level is crucial. And honestly, I don't know what could be the bottom. But was just thinking somewhere around 50 but well, it didn't go below 70 so no complains. And how I came to think about 50? LOL, just out of thin air :)) . Experience in market will boost your guessing power too ;)
PNB : Head n Shoulders PatternUsually I don't trade head n shoulders unless there are other valid reasons to enter.
If you are an aggressive trade, you might want to enter just after the breakout of Neckline which has happened on Friday market closing.
If prices are at your expected entry level during Monday open you can go short in PNB
Happy Trading !
