ZKP protocol works on principle of proof of some fact, provided that information about you does not get to the second person. Here is an example of how the ZKP protocol works in real life, if the government agencies would work on this protocol. When you give your driving license to a traffic cop, he does not see any information about you, but knows that you are the owner of the license and it is valid. And the most interesting thing is that other traffic cops and members of the public do not see that you are being checked. ZCash works on roughly the same principle as in this example.
