Daily BreadWhat it does:
This script uses specific multiple true ranges from a 30 EMA baseline to plot lines that represent 10% buying increments. Although the common period for ATR is 14, this script employs a period of 20 for smoothing that I have determined is more effective when used with a daily candle chart. It includes onscreen trend signals to identify an uptrend or downtrend when the 50 EMA crosses the 90 EMA and will also display a coloured directional signal at each candle beyond an EMA cross to identify the current trend.
The script plots a scale of percentage labels at the end of each line to identify the percent of an account intended to be in short or longer term trades.
How it does it:
The script uses a 30 EMA baseline and then multiplies ATR increments of +1, +2, +4 and -1 through -7. These ATR multiples and the EMA are plotted as 11 lines, 10 of which make up the range of 10% increments from 10% to 100% with the 11th line being the High Band representing the extreme high or expected sale of any holdings. The percentage label scale uses variable declarations to position and colour match a percentage label to each line.
Intended use:
It is intended to be used for short term trading or long term investing with a daily market index chart such as SPY and multiple exchange traded funds that track said market index. A different ETF is purchased when a daily SPY candle reaches a lower buy band using 10% of a total account value. The sale of any ETFs is at the discretion of the trader and dependent on investment strategy (short term trading or long term inventing) and the trend. When short term trading in a downtrend or when daily candles are below the 50 EMA, selling would be done every 2 to 3 bands above a buy to mitigate the risk of a significant portion of an account getting caught in a downtrend. In an uptrend the High Band would be used to sell any holdings.

Index investingThe Index Investing indicator simplifies decision-making for adding to Index ETF's Long-term investments. By utilizing a percentage discount methodology, it highlights potential opportunities to enhance portfolios. This straightforward tool aids in identifying favorable moments to invest based on calculated price discounts from selected reference points, making the process more systematic and less subjective.
🔶 SETTINGS
Reference Price: Choose between 'All-Time-High' or 'Start of the Year' as the basis for calculating discount levels. This allows for flexibility in strategy depending on market conditions or investment philosophy.
Discount 1 %, Discount 2 %, Discount 3 %: These inputs define the percentage below the reference price at which buy signals are generated. They represent strategic entry points at discounted prices.
🔶 Default Parameters
The default parameters of 4.13%, 8.26%, and 12.39% for the discount levels are chosen based on the average 5-year return of the NSE:NIFTY Index, which stands at approximately 12.39%. By dividing this return into three parts, we obtain a structured approach to capturing potential upside at varying levels of market retracement, providing a logical basis for the selected default values.
Users have the flexibility to modify these parameters, tailoring the indicator to fit their unique approach and market outlook.
🔶 How Levels Are Calculated
Discount levels are calculated using the formula: Discount Price = Reference Price * (1 - Discount %) . This succinct approach establishes specific entry points below the chosen reference, such as an all-time high or the year's start price.
🔶 How Are the Buy Labels Generated
Buy signals are generated when the market price(Low of the candle) crosses under any of the defined discount levels. Each level has a corresponding buy label ('Buy 1', 'Buy 2', 'Buy 3'), which is activated upon the price crossing below the specified discount level and is only reset at the beginning of a new year or upon reaching a new reference high, ensuring signals are not repetitive for the same price level.
🔶 Other Features
Alerts: The indicator provides alerts for each buy signal, notifying potential entry points at their defined discount levels. The alert triggers only once per candle.
Year Marker: A vertical line with an accompanying label marks the start of each trading year on the chart. This feature aids in visualizing the temporal context of buy signals and reference price adjustments.
Fetch Buy And Hold StrategyThis script was created as an experiment using ChatGPT. I actually woudn't recommend using the ai program to help you with your Pinescripts, as it makes a fair amount of mistakes. It was a fun experiment however.
The script is a simple buy and hold tool. Here's what it does:
- Everytime the rsi enters below the set treshold, a counter increases.
- The second increase of the counter happens when the price goes above the treshold, and then dips below the treshold again.
- The program would fire off a buy signal when the counter hits the number 3.
- After the buy. the counter will reset.
Lets take a look at the following example where the rsi treshold is 30:
- So the rsi dips below 30 and the initial counter is set from 0 to 1.
- The price rises which brings the rsi back to 40.
- Then another dip happens and the rsi is now 25, increasing the counter from 1 two.
- Rsi now dips to 23 and nothing happens.
- Rsi goes back up to 31, and dips back to 28 which puts the counter at 3. A buy singal is now fired and the counter is set to 0.
Shiller PE Ratio (CAPE Ratio) [WhaleCrew]Our Implementation of the famous Shiller PE Ratio (aka C yclically A djusted P rice-to- E arnings Ratio) a long-term valuation indicator for the S&P 500.
Calculation: Share price divided by 10 - year average, inflation - adjusted earnings
The indicator works on the M and 12M timeframe and has a built-in moving average that supports an upper and lower bollinger band.
Investments/swing trading strategy for different assetsStop worrying about catching the lowest price, it's almost impossible!: with this trend-following strategy and protection from bearish phases, you will know how to enter the market properly to obtain benefits in the long term.
Backtesting context: 1899-11-01 to 2023-02-16 of SPX by Tvc. Commissions: 0.05% for each entry, 0.05% for each exit. Risk per trade: 2.5% of the total account
For this strategy, 5 indicators are used:
One Ema of 200 periods
Atr Stop loss indicator from Gatherio
Squeeze momentum indicator from LazyBear
Moving average convergence/divergence or Macd
Relative strength index or Rsi
Trade conditions:
There are three type of entries, one of them depends if we want to trade against a bearish trend or not.
---If we keep Against trend option deactivated, the rules for two type of entries are:---
First type of entry:
With the next rules, we will be able to entry in a pull back situation:
Squeeze momentum is under 0 line (red)
Close is above 200 Ema and close is higher than the past close
Histogram from macd is under 0 line and is higher than the past one
Once these rules are met, we enter into a buy position. Stop loss will be determined by atr stop loss (white point) and break even(blue point) by a risk/reward ratio of 1:1.
For closing this position: Squeeze momentum crosses over 0 and, until squeeze momentum crosses under 0, we close the position. Otherwise, we would have closed the position due to break even or stop loss.
Second type of entry:
With the next rules, we will not lose a possible bullish movement:
Close is above 200 Ema
Squeeze momentum crosses under 0 line
Once these rules are met, we enter into a buy position. Stop loss will be determined by atr stop loss (white point) and break even(blue point) by a risk/reward ratio of 1:1.
Like in the past type of entry, for closing this position: Squeeze momentum crosses over 0 and, until squeeze momentum crosses under 0, we close the position. Otherwise, we would have closed the position due to break even or stop loss.
---If we keep Against trend option activated, the rules are the same as the ones above, but with one more type of entry. This is more useful in weekly timeframes, but could also be used in daily time frame:---
Third type of entry:
Close is under 200 Ema
Squeeze momentum crosses under 0 line
Once these rules are met, we enter into a buy position. Stop loss will be determined by atr stop loss (white point) and break even(blue point) by a risk/reward ratio of 1:1.
Like in the past type of entries, for closing this position: Squeeze momentum crosses over 0 and, until squeeze momentum crosses under 0, we close the position. Otherwise, we would have closed the position due to break even or stop loss.
Risk management
For calculating the amount of the position you will use just a small percent of your initial capital for the strategy and you will use the atr stop loss for this.
Example: You have 1000 usd and you just want to risk 2,5% of your account, there is a buy signal at price of 4,000 usd. The stop loss price from atr stop loss is 3,900. You calculate the distance in percent between 4,000 and 3,900. In this case, that distance would be of 2.50%. Then, you calculate your position by this way: (initial or current capital * risk per trade of your account) / (stop loss distance).
Using these values on the formula: (1000*2,5%)/(2,5%) = 1000usd. It means, you have to use 1000 usd for risking 2.5% of your account.
We will use this risk management for applying compound interest.
In settings, with position amount calculator, you can enter the amount in usd of your account and the amount in percentage for risking per trade of the account. You will see this value in green color in the upper left corner that shows the amount in usd to use for risking the specific percentage of your account.
Script functions
Inside of settings, you will find some utilities for display atr stop loss, break evens, positions, signals, indicators, etc.
You will find the settings for risk management at the end of the script if you want to change something. But rebember, do not change values from indicators, the idea is to not over optimize the strategy.
If you want to change the initial capital for backtest the strategy, go to properties, and also enter the commisions of your exchange and slippage for more realistic results.
If you activate break even using rsi, when rsi crosses under overbought zone break even will be activated. This can work in some assets.
---Important: In risk managment you can find an option called "Use leverage ?", activate this if you want to backtest using leverage, which means that in case of not having enough money for risking the % determined by you of your account using your initial capital, you will use leverage for using the enough amount for risking that % of your acount in a buy position. Otherwise, the amount will be limited by your initial/current capital---
Some things to consider
USE UNDER YOUR OWN RISK. PAST RESULTS DO NOT REPRESENT THE FUTURE.
DEPENDING OF % ACCOUNT RISK PER TRADE, YOU COULD REQUIRE LEVERAGE FOR OPEN SOME POSITIONS, SO PLEASE, BE CAREFULL AND USE CORRECTLY THE RISK MANAGEMENT
Do not forget to change commissions and other parameters related with back testing results!
