Weekly RSI Buy/Sell SignalsWeekly RSI Buy/Sell Signal Indicator
This indicator is designed to help traders identify high-probability buy and sell opportunities on the weekly chart by using the Relative Strength Index (RSI). By utilizing weekly RSI values, this indicator ensures signals align with broader market trends, providing a clearer view of potential price reversals and continuation.
How It Works:
Weekly RSI Calculation: This script calculates the RSI using a 14-period setting, focusing on the weekly timeframe regardless of the user’s current chart view. The weekly RSI is derived using request.security, allowing for consistent signals even on intraday charts.
Signal Conditions:
Buy Signal: A buy signal appears when the RSI crosses above the oversold threshold of 30, suggesting that price may be gaining momentum after a potential bottom.
Sell Signal: A sell signal triggers when the RSI crosses below the overbought threshold of 70, indicating a possible momentum shift downwards.
Visual Cues:
Buy/Sell Markers: Clear green "BUY" and red "SELL" markers are displayed on the chart when buy or sell conditions are met, making it easy to identify entry and exit points.
RSI Line and Thresholds: The weekly RSI value is plotted in real time with color-coded horizontal lines at 30 (oversold) and 70 (overbought), providing a visual reference for key levels.
This indicator is ideal for traders looking for reliable, trend-based signals on higher timeframes and can be a helpful tool for filtering out shorter-term market noise.

Dynamic Sentiment RSI [UAlgo]The Dynamic Sentiment RSI is a technical analysis tool that combines the classic RSI (Relative Strength Index) concept with dynamic sentiment analysis, offering traders enhanced insights into market conditions. Unlike the traditional RSI, this indicator integrates volume weighting, sentiment factors, and smoothing features to provide a more nuanced view of momentum and potential market reversals. It is designed to assist traders in detecting overbought/oversold conditions, momentum shifts, and to generate potential buy or sell signals using crossover and crossunder techniques. By dynamically adjusting based on sentiment and volume factors, this RSI offers better adaptability to varying market conditions, making it suitable for different trading styles and timeframes.
This tool is particularly helpful for traders who wish to explore not only price movement but also the underlying market sentiment, offering a more comprehensive approach to momentum analysis. The sentiment factor amplifies the RSI's sensitivity to price shifts, making it easier to detect early signals of market reversals or the continuation of a trend.
🔶 Key Features
Dynamic Sentiment Calculation: The indicator incorporates a "Sentiment Factor" that adjusts the RSI length dynamically based on a multiplier, helping traders better understand market sentiment at different time intervals.
Volume Weighting: When enabled, the RSI calculations are weighted by volume, allowing traders to give more importance to price movements with higher trading volume, which may provide more accurate signals.
Smoothing Feature: A customizable smoothing period is applied to the RSI to help filter out noise and make the signal smoother. This feature is particularly useful for traders who prefer to focus on long-term trends while minimizing false signals.
Step Size Customization: A "Step Size" input allows users to round the sentiment RSI to predefined intervals, making the results easier to interpret and act upon. This feature allows you to focus on significant sentiment changes and ignore minor fluctuations.
Crossover/Crossunder Alerts: The indicator includes crossover and crossunder signals on the zero-line, helping traders identify potential buy and sell opportunities as the smoothed RSI crosses these levels.
The indicator offers a clear visual display with multiple color-coded lines and areas:
Sentiment RSI: Plotted as an area chart, color-coded based on sentiment strength.
Raw RSI: A purple line representing the raw adjusted RSI.
Smoothed RSI: A dynamic line, color-coded aqua or orange based on its position relative to the zero line.
Buy/Sell Signals: Triangle shapes are plotted at crossovers and crossunders, providing clear entry and exit points.
🔶 Interpreting the Indicator
Sentiment RSI
-This line represents the sentiment-adjusted RSI, where the higher the value, the stronger the bullish sentiment, and the lower the value, the stronger the bearish sentiment. It is rounded to step intervals, making it easier to detect significant shifts in sentiment.
- A positive sentiment RSI (above 0) suggests bullish market conditions, while a negative sentiment RSI (below 0) suggests bearish conditions.
Smoothed RSI
The smoothed RSI helps reduce noise and shows the trend more clearly.
Crossovers of the zero line are significant:
- Crossover above zero: Indicates that bullish momentum is building, potentially signaling a buying opportunity.
- Crossunder below zero: Signals a shift towards bearish momentum, potentially indicating a sell signal.
Traders should look for these crossovers in conjunction with other signals for more accurate entry/exit points.
Raw RSI (Adjusted)
The raw adjusted RSI offers a less smoothed, more responsive version of the RSI. While it may be noisier, it provides early signals of market reversals and trends.
Crossover/Crossunder Signals
- When the smoothed RSI crosses above the zero line, a "Signal Up" triangle appears, indicating a potential buying opportunity.
- When the smoothed RSI crosses below the zero line, a "Signal Down" triangle appears, signaling a potential sell opportunity.
These signals help traders time their entries and exits by identifying momentum shifts.
Volume Weighting (Optional)
- If volume weighting is enabled, the RSI will give more weight to periods of higher trading volume, making the signals more reliable when the market is highly active.
Strong Up/Down Levels (40/-40)
- These dotted lines represent extreme sentiment levels. When the sentiment RSI reaches 40 or -40, the market may be nearing an overbought or oversold condition, respectively. This could be a signal for traders to prepare for potential reversals or shifts in momentum.
By combining the various components of this indicator, traders can gain a comprehensive view of market sentiment and price action, helping them make more informed trading decisions. The combination of sentiment factors, volume weighting, and smoothing makes this indicator highly flexible and suitable for a variety of trading strategies.

Adaptive RSI-Stoch with Butterworth Filter [UAlgo]The Adaptive RSI-Stoch with Butterworth Filter is a technical indicator designed to combine the strengths of the Relative Strength Index (RSI), Stochastic Oscillator, and a Butterworth Filter to provide a smooth and adaptive momentum-based trading signal. This custom-built indicator leverages the RSI to measure market momentum, applies Stochastic calculations for overbought/oversold conditions, and incorporates a Butterworth Filter to reduce noise and smooth out price movements for enhanced signal reliability.
By utilizing these combined methods, this indicator aims to help traders identify potential market reversal points, momentum shifts, and overbought/oversold conditions with greater precision, while minimizing false signals in volatile markets.
🔶 Key Features
Adaptive RSI and Stochastic Oscillator: Calculates RSI using a configurable period and applies a dual-smoothing mechanism with Stochastic Oscillator values (K and D lines).
Helps in identifying momentum strength and potential trend reversals.
Butterworth Filter: An advanced signal processing filter that reduces noise and smooths out the indicator values for better trend identification.
The filter can be enabled or disabled based on user preferences.
Customizable Parameters: Flexibility to adjust the length of RSI, the smoothing factors for Stochastic (K and D values), and the Butterworth Filter period.
🔶 Interpreting the Indicator
RSI & Stochastic Calculations:
The RSI is calculated based on the closing price over the user-defined period, and further smoothed to generate Stochastic Oscillator values.
The K and D values of the Stochastic Oscillator provide insights into short-term overbought or oversold conditions.
Butterworth Filter Application:
What is Butterworth Filter and How It Works?
The Butterworth Filter is a type of signal processing filter that is designed to have a maximally flat frequency response in the passband, meaning it doesn’t distort the frequency components of the signal within the desired range. It is widely used in digital signal processing and technical analysis to smooth noisy data while preserving the important trends in the underlying data. In this indicator, the Butterworth Filter is applied to the trigger value, making the resulting signal smoother and more stable by filtering out short-term fluctuations or noise in price data.
Key Concepts Behind the Butterworth Filter:
Filter Design: The Butterworth filter works by calculating weighted averages of current and past inputs (price or indicator values) and outputs to produce a smooth output. It is characterized by the absence of ripple in the passband and a smooth roll-off after the cutoff frequency.
Cutoff Frequency: The period specified in the indicator acts as a control for the cutoff frequency. A higher period means the filter will remove more high-frequency noise and retain longer-term trends, while a lower period means it will respond more to short-term fluctuations in the data.
Smoothing Process: In this script, the Butterworth Filter is calculated recursively using the following formula,
butterworth_filter(series float input, int period) =>
float wc = math.tan(math.pi / period)
float k1 = 1.414 * wc
float k2 = wc * wc
float a0 = k2 / (1 + k1 + k2)
float a1 = 2 * a0
float a2 = a0
float b1 = 2 * (k2 - 1) / (1 + k1 + k2)
float b2 = (1 - k1 + k2) / (1 + k1 + k2)
wc: This is the angular frequency, derived from the period input.
k1 and k2: These are intermediate coefficients used in the filter calculation.
a0, a1, a2: These are the feedforward coefficients, which determine how much of the current and past input values will contribute to the filtered output.
b1, b2: These are feedback coefficients, which determine how much of the past output values will contribute to the current output, effectively allowing the filter to "remember" past behavior and smooth the signal.
Recursive Calculation: The filter operates by taking into account not only the current input value but also the previous two input values and the previous two output values. This recursive nature helps it smooth the signal by blending the recent past data with the current data.
float filtered_value = a0 * input + a1 * prev_input1 + a2 * prev_input2
filtered_value -= b1 * prev_output1 + b2 * prev_output2
input: The current input value, which could be the trigger value in this case.
prev_input1, prev_input2: The previous two input values.
prev_output1, prev_output2: The previous two output values.
This means the current filtered value is determined by the combination of:
A weighted sum of the current input and the last two inputs.
A correction based on the last two output values to ensure smoothness and remove noise.
In conclusion when filter is enabled, the Butterworth Filter smooths the RSI and Stochastic values to reduce market noise and highlight significant momentum shifts.
The filtered trigger value (post-Butterworth) provides a cleaner representation of the market's momentum.
Cross Signals for Trade Entries:
Buy Signal: A bullish crossover of the K value above the D value, particularly when the values are below 40 and when the Stochastic trigger is below 1 and the filtered trigger is below 35.
Sell Signal: A bearish crossunder of the K value below the D value, particularly when the values are above 60 and when the Stochastic trigger is above 99 and the filtered trigger is above 90.
These signals are plotted visually on the chart for easy identification of potential trading opportunities.
Overbought and Oversold Zones:
The indicator highlights the overbought zone when the filtered trigger surpasses a specific threshold (typically above 100) and the oversold zone when it drops below 0.
The color-coded fill areas between the Stochastic and trigger lines help visualize when the market may be overbought (likely a reversal down) or oversold (potential reversal up).

### Overview
The Relative Strength (RS) Indicator is a robust tool designed to measure the performance of a security relative to a benchmark or another security. Unlike traditional indicators, this RS Indicator calculates the outperformance or underperformance in percentage terms, providing a clear and concise comparison.
The equation for calculation can be found in the code itself. This equation compares how much a security's price has changed over a given period (len) relative to the change in price of a benchmark over the same period. The result is expressed as a percentage, showing whether the security has outperformed or underperformed the benchmark. A positive RS value indicates outperformance, while a negative value signals underperformance.
Basically, this indicator is an enhanced version of 'Relative Strength' indicator of 'BharatTrader' Sir with added features like automatic divergence plotting, color-coded filled area and sector names for NSE F&O securities. Default values for some of the parameters are based on discussion by Subhadip Nandy Sir in Trader's Talk with Mr. Rohit Katwal.

2. Dynamic Moving Average Colors Based on Relative Strength:
This feature allows you to compare the performance of the current ticker against a major index or any symbol of your choice. The moving average will change color based on whether the ticker is outperforming or underperforming the selected index over the chosen period. For example, on a daily chart, if the 21-day moving average turns blue, it indicates that the ticker has outperformed the selected index over the last 21 days. This visual cue helps you quickly identify relative strength, a key factor in successful swing trading.
3. Visual Identification of Price Contractions:
The Swing Trend Analyzer changes the color of price bars to white (on a dark theme) or black (on a light theme) when a contraction in price is detected. Price contractions are highlighted when either of the following conditions is met: a) the current bar is an inside bar, or b) the price range of the current bar is less than the 14-period Average Daily Range (ADR). This feature makes it easier to spot price contractions across all timeframes, which is crucial for timing entries in swing trading.
4. Overhead Supply Detection with Automated Resistance Lines:
The indicator intelligently detects the presence of overhead supply and draws a single resistance line to avoid clutter on the chart. As price breaches the resistance line, the old line is automatically deleted, and a new resistance line is drawn at the appropriate level. This helps you focus on the most relevant resistance levels, reducing noise and improving decision-making.
5. Buyable Gap Up Marker: The indicator highlights bars in blue when a candle opens with a gap that remains unfilled. These bars are potential Buyable Gap Up (BGU) candidates, signaling opportunities for long-side entries.

Experience the power of advanced technical analysis with the Swing Trend Analyzer and take your trading to the next level.
Relative Strength (Volatility Adjusted)The volatility adjusted relative strength indicator offers a more precise approach to traditional RS indicators by incorporating volatility adjustments into its calculations. This will provide traders with a more nuanced view of relative performance between a selected instrument and a comparison index.
Identifying Relative Strength (RS) and Weakness (RW) against a benchmark like the SPY is crucial for traders, as it highlights institutional activity in an equity, which retail traders rarely achieve on their own. However, the traditional method of simply comparing the rate of change of a stock to the rate of change for the SPY can be flawed. This method often fails to account for the inherent volatility of each stock, leading to misleading RS/RW readings.
Consider two stocks that both move in response to SPY's movements. If SPY moves significantly more than its average (measured by its ATR), and the stock does the same, traditional RS calculations might show strength when, in fact, the stock is just mirroring SPY's increased volatility. For instance, if SPY typically moves $0.25 an hour but suddenly moves $1, and a stock typically moves $0.50 but moves $2, the stock's apparent RS might be overstated, when in reality there is no relative strength for the stock.
By adjusting for volatility using the ATR (Average True Range), we normalize these movements and get a clearer picture of true RS/RW. For example, if SPY moves 5 times its average rate and a stock moves the same multiple of its own ATR, the RS should be considered neutral rather than strong. Similarly if a stock in absolute terms moves $1 while the SPY also moves $1 but the stock usually moves at twice the rate of the SPY, the stock should be considered relatively weak - not neutral.
Usage
Use this to identify stocks with actual strength or weakness compared to the market.
When the RS line is above 0 and above the moving average it indicates a stock with relative strength that is still gaining more strength.
When the RS line is above 0 but above the moving average it indicates a stock with relative strength that is currently losing strength.
When the RS line is below 0 and below the moving average it indicates a stock with relative weakness that is still losing strength.
When the RS line is below 0 but above the moving average it indicates a stock with relative weakness that is starting to gain back some strength.
ZORZOR (Zone of Outperformance Ratio) with Supporting Indicators
This custom indicator introduces an approach to measuring asset performance through the Zone of Outperformance Ratio (ZOR), complemented by two supporting indicators for comprehensive market analysis.
1. ZOR (Zone of Outperformance Ratio)
The ZOR is the cornerstone of this indicator, offering a unique perspective on an asset's performance across multiple time zones:
Measures the degree of an asset's outperformance against a benchmark (default: NSE:NIFTY) across different time zones
Utilizes a weighted multi-timeframe approach for a holistic performance view
Combines performance ratios from 63, 126, 189, and 252-day zones and results in a score between 0-99, with higher scores indicating stronger outperformance across zones
Key Features:
Fully configurable weights for each timeframe (63, 126, 189, 252 days)
Customizable benchmark symbol
Color-coded display: Blue for scores ≥60 (strong performance), Red for scores <60 (weaker performance)
2. Supporting Indicators
To enhance analysis and provide context to the ZOR score, two additional indicators are included:
a) Distance to 52-week High:
Calculates the percentage distance between current price and 52-week high
Color-coded for quick interpretation:
Yellow-green when price is above 52-week high
Dark green when price is below 52-week high
Helps identify potential overbought conditions or breakout scenarios
b) Distance to EMA:
Shows percentage distance from current price to a user-defined EMA (default: 21-day)
Helps gauge short-term momentum relative to the trend
Useful for identifying potential mean reversion opportunities
Originality and Usefulness
The ZOR indicator offers a fresh perspective on relative performance by:
Combining multiple timeframes into a single, easy-to-interpret score
Applying a non-linear transformation to emphasize recent performance
Providing a flexible framework for comparing assets against any chosen benchmark
The supporting indicators complement the ZOR by offering additional context:
Distance to 52-week High helps identify potential trend strength and breakout scenarios
Distance to EMA provides insights into short-term momentum and potential mean reversion
This combination allows traders to:
Quickly identify outperforming assets across multiple timeframes
Assess whether an asset is extended from its long-term highs or short-term average
Make more informed decisions by considering relative performance, trend strength, and momentum in a single view
How to Use
1. Add the indicator to your chart
2. Customize settings in the indicator properties:
- Set benchmark symbol
- Toggle visibility of supporting indicators
- Customize EMA length for Distance to EMA
- Adjust ZOR calculation weights(Optional)
3. Interpret the color-coded labels:
- ZOR: Blue (strong performance) or Red (weaker performance)
- Distance to High: Yellow-green (above 52-week high) or Dark green (below)
- Distance to EMA: Purple label showing percentage
4. Use in conjunction with other technical and fundamental analysis for comprehensive trading decisions
This indicator provides a unique, multi-faceted approach to performance analysis, combining relative strength measurement with trend and momentum indicators for a holistic market view.
RSI DeviationAn oscillator which de-trends the Relative Strength Index. Rather, it takes a moving average of RSI and plots it's standard deviation from the MA, similar to a Bollinger %B oscillator. This seams to highlight short term peaks and troughs, Indicating oversold and overbought conditions respectively. It is intended to be used with a Dollar Cost Averaging strategy, but may also be useful for Swing Trading, or Scalping on lower timeframes.
When the line on the oscillator line crosses back into the channel, it signals a trade opportunity.
~ Crossing into the band from the bottom, indicates the end of an oversold condition, signaling a potential reversal. This would be a BUY signal.
~ Crossing into the band from the top, indicates the end of an overbought condition, signaling a potential reversal. This would be a SELL signal.
For ease of use, I've made the oscillator highlight the main chart when Overbought/Oversold conditions are occurring, and place fractals upon reversion to the Band. These repaint as they are calculated at close. The earliest trade would occur upon open of the following day.
I have set the default St. Deviation to be 2, but in my testing I have found 1.5 to be quite reliable. By decreasing the St. Deviation you will increase trade frequency, to a point, at the expense of efficiency.
Cheers

RSI Screener / Heatmap - By LeviathanThis script allows you to quickly scan the market by displaying the RSI values of up to 280 tickers at once and visualizing them in an easy-to-understand format using labels with heatmap coloring.
📊 Source
The script can display the RSI from a custom timeframe (MTF) and custom length for the following data:
- Price
- OBV (On Balance Volume)
- Open Interest (for crypto tickers)
📋 Ticker Selection
This script uses a different approach for selecting tickers. Instead of inputting them one by one via input.symbol(), you can now copy-paste or edit a list of tickers in the text area window. This approach allows users to easily exchange ticker lists between each other and, for example, create multiple lists of tickers by sector, market cap, etc., and easily input them into the script. Full credit to @allanster for his functions for extracting tickers from the text. Users can switch between 7 groups of 40 tickers each, totaling 280 tickers.
🖥️ Display Types
- Screener with Labels: Each ticker has its own color-coded label located at its RSI value.
- Group Average RSI: A standard RSI plot that displays the average RSI of all tickers in the group.
- RSI Heatmap (coming soon): Color-coded rows displaying current and historical values of tickers.
- RSI Divergence Heatmap (coming soon): Color-coded rows displaying current and historical regular/hidden bullish/bearish divergences for tickers.
🎨 Appearance
Appearance is fully customizable via user inputs, allowing you to change heatmap/gradient colors, zone coloring, and more.
Relative Strength Universal
Relative strength is a ratio between two assets, generally it is a stock and a market average (index). RS implementation details are explained here .
This script automatically decides benchmark index for RS calculation based on market cap input values and input benchmark indices values.
Relative strength calculation:
"To calculate the relative strength of a particular stock, divide the percentage change over some time period by the percentage change of a particular index over the same time period". This indicator value oscillates around zero. If the value is greater than zero, the investment has been relatively strong during the selected period; if the value is less than zero, the investment has been relatively weak.
In this script, You can input market cap values and all are editable fields. If company market cap value is grater than 75000(Default value) then stock value will be compared with Nifty index. If company market cap is between 75000 and 25000 then stock value will be compared with midcap 150 to calculate RS. If marketcap is greater than 5000 and less than 25000 then RS will be calculated based on smallcap250. If marketcap is less than 5000 and greater than 500 then it will be compared with NIFTY_MICROCAP250
RSI AcceleratorThe Relative Strength Index (RSI) is like a fitness tracker for the underlying time series. It measures how overbought or oversold an asset is, which is kinda like saying how tired or energized it is.
When the RSI goes too high, it suggests the asset might be tired and due for a rest, so it could be a sign it's gonna drop. On the flip side, when the RSI goes too low, it's like the asset is pumped up and ready to go, so it might be a sign it's gonna bounce back up. Basically, it helps traders figure out if a stock is worn out or revved up, which can be handy for making decisions about buying or selling.
The RSI Accelerator takes the difference between a short-term RSI(5) and a longer-term RSI(14) to detect short-term movements. When the short-term RSI rises more than the long-term RSI, it typically refers to a short-term upside acceleration.
The conditions of the signals through the RSI Accelerator are as follows:
* A bullish signal is generated whenever the Accelerator surpasses -20 after having been below it.
* A bearish signal is generated whenever the Accelerator breaks 20 after having been above it.
RSI Overbought/Oversold [Overlay Highlighter]Indicator to show when the RSI is in oversold(Below 30) or overbought (Above 70) conditions. The background color of the chart changes colors in the areas where the above conditions are met.
Price can often reverse in these areas. However, this depends on the strength of the trend and price may continue higher or lower in the direction of the overall trend.
Divergence has been added to aid the user in timing reversals. Divergences are plotted by circles above or below the candles. Divergence is confirmed so there is a delay of one candle before the signal is given on the previous candle. Again, everything depends on the strength of the trend so use proper risk management.
Once the RSI has entered into oversold/overbought conditions, it is recommended to wait for divergence before entering into the trade near areas of support or resistance. It is recommended to utilize this strategy on the H4 timeframe, however, this particular strategy works on all timeframes.
This indicator is a modified version of seoco's RSI Overbought/Oversold + Divergence Indicator . The user interface has been refined, is now overlayed on the chart, and my own divergence code has been inserted.

Relative Strength Scatter Plot [LuxAlgo]The Relative Strength Scatter Plot indicator is a tool that shows the historical performance of various user-selected securities against a selected benchmark.
This tool is inspired by Relative Rotation Graphs®. Relative Rotation Graphs® is a registered trademark of JOOS Holdings B.V. This script is neither endorsed, nor sponsored, nor affiliated with them.
🔶 USAGE
This tool depicts a simple scatter plot using the relative strength ratio as the X-axis and its momentum as the Y-axis of the user-selected symbols against the selected benchmark.
The graph is divided into four quadrants, and the interpretation of the graph is done depending on where a point is situated on the graph:
A point in the green quadrant would indicate that the security is leading the benchmark in strength, with positive strength momentum.
A point in the yellow quadrant would indicate that the security is leading the benchmark in strength, with negative strength momentum.
A point in the blue quadrant would indicate that the security is lagging behind the benchmark in strength, with positive strength momentum.
A point in the red quadrant would indicate that the security is lagging behind the benchmark in strength, with negative strength momentum.
The trail of each symbol allows the user to see the evolution of the relative strength momentum relative to the relative strength ratio. The length of the trail can be controlled by the "Trail Length" setting.
🔶 DETAILS
Our relative strength ratio estimate is first obtained from the relative strength between the symbol of interest and the benchmark, the result is then smoothed using a linearly weighted moving average (wma). This result is then normalized with a wma of the smoothed relative strength, this ratio is again smoothed with the wma and multiplied by 100.
The relative strength momentum estimate is obtained from the ratio between the previously estimated RS-Ratio and its wma, this ratio is then multiplied by 100.
🔶 SETTINGS
Calculation Window: Calculation window of the RS-Ratio and RS-Momentum metrics.
Symbols: Symbols used for the computation of the graph, each settings line allows us to determine whether the symbol is to be displayed on the graph as well as its color.
Benchmark: Benchmark symbol used for the computation of the graph. Indices are commonly used as a benchmark.
🔹 Graph Settings
Trail Length: Number of past data points to display on the graph for each symbol.
Resolution: Controls the horizontal length of the graph.
Trend-based Price Action StrategyThis is a strategy script that combines trend-based price action analysis with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) and Exponential Moving Averages (EMA) as trend filters. Here's a summary of the key components and logic:
Price Action Candlestick Patterns:
Bullish patterns: Engulfing candle and Morning Star.
Bearish patterns: Engulfing candle and Evening Star.
RSI Integration:
RSI is used to identify overbought and oversold conditions.
EMA Trend Filter:
Three EMAs with different periods: Fast , Medium and Slow.
Long trend condition occur when the fast EMA is above the medium and the medium is above the slow EMA.
Short trend condition occur when the slow EMA is above the medium and the medium is above the fast EMA.
Long entry conditions: RSI is oversold, RSI is decreasing, bullish candlestick pattern, and EMA trend filter conditions are met.
Short entry conditions: RSI is overbought, RSI is decreasing, bearish candlestick pattern, and EMA trend filter conditions are met.
Exit conditions:
Take profit or stop loss is reached.
Plotting:
Signals are plotted on the chart when entry conditions are met.
EMAs are plotted when the EMA trend filter is enabled.
This script aims to capture potential trend reversal points based on a combination of candlestick patterns, RSI, and EMA trend analysis.
Traders can use this script as a starting point for further customization or as a reference for developing their own trading strategies. It's important to note that past performance is not indicative of future results, and thorough testing and validation are recommended before deploying any trading strategy.
RS for VPAThis is a supporting Indicator for the Volume Price Analysis Script VPA 5.0.
Purpose
To indicate the performance of the stock compared to an Index or any other selected stock. It also provides an idea about the strength of the Reference Index as well.
Description
The indicator is an unbound oscillator moving around a zero line. If the stock is strong then the values are positive and if it is weak the values are negative. If the stock is performing better (Stronger) than the Index the indicator is positive and colored green. If the stock is weaker than the Index it is negative and is colored Red.
The background indicates the strength of the Reference Index/Stock. Bullishness/up trend of the Index/Stock is indicated by yellow colour. Short term uptrend, Mid term uptrend and Long term trends are indicated by different shades of yellow varying from light to Dark. The bearishness / down trend is indicated by blue back ground.
How it Works
The relative strength is calculated by using the formula
RS = Gain of the stock / (Gain of the Ref. Index -1)
= (Stock Price today / Stock Price (N period ago)) /
(Index Price today / Index price (N period ago)) – 1
The Index strength is calculated as below
Short term trend up = 5 ema > 22 ema
Mid Term trend up = 22 ema > 60 ema
Long term trend up = 60 ema > 130 ema
Trend down = 5 ema < 22 ema
How to use
Use this indicator to assist your Price Action Analysis using VPA 5.0. When the Price action and volume indicates Bullishness, you can check if the relative strength is also supporting (Positive and in green Territory). This adds credibility to the Price action. Also check if the index is also positive (the Back ground is yellow). This makes the Price action even stronger. Ideally both the stock and index should be strong. Many time you would find the that the stock is in green territory but the index is in blue territory. This calls for some caution in evaluating the Price Action.
When the price action is positive but the relative strength is negative then one should be cautious and wait for the relative strength to turn positive before any entry decision.
Option for the Indicator
One can select the following from the setting for the indicator
1. Index or reference stock – Default is CNX 500
2. Relative Strength Calculation period – Default is 22
3. The EMA periods for the Index/Reference stock strength calculation
