Analyst rating
What is the Analyst rating?
The Analyst rating represents the consensus of broker recommendations for a security. The data is collected and aggregated by our provider (FactSet), which sources it from various brokerage firms.
The rating can take one of the following five values:
- Strong Sell – strong recommendation to sell
- Sell – recommendation to sell
- Neutral – neutral rating (hold)
- Buy – recommendation to buy
- Strong Buy – strong recommendation to buy
Analyst rating vs. Technical rating
Unlike Technical rating, which is based on calculated signals from various technical indicators (such as moving averages and oscillators), Analyst rating reflects the collective opinion of financial analysts and brokerage firms. While Technical rating helps traders evaluate price trends and momentum, Analyst rating provides insight into how professionals perceive a stock’s long-term potential based on fundamental and market analysis.
Why is Analyst rating important?
This metric helps investors gauge market sentiment by reflecting the overall view of professional analysts. It can be used alongside Technical Rating to form a more comprehensive investment strategy.
