Bearish On The Long Run - VTI'm sometimes more interested in the Total World Index than the more focused ones (VTI, VEA, VWO, etc.).
The economy is highly correlated and massive moves in one area bear down the rest of the world or support it up.
The past year has been a mitigated market mostly held down by the interest rate and trade war and there's no sign of it truly easing up.
Over time, this index, and the rest of the world economy will have to pay for the too accommodative Fed policy and overvalued stocks.

A Scenario For A Cyclical CorrectionI'm not one for experimental technical analysis, but, I found the 1-year moving average curve interesting and how it indicates a certain slowdown and potential reversal to the mean (still with an overall uptrend).
Will be interesting and an opportunity to buy after a 15-25 % correction.
Interesting ActionNo particular trading advice but this could very well be a pivotal moment, either to the upside or with a clear rejection and correction.
Prices have clearly broke out but whether fundamentals will allow for further upside is uncertain.
A Pullback Could Be A Buying Opportunity On VTThe chart shows a potential gain for a buy on a pullback or short correction; ultimately, I see this more as a super long-term investment. You can't get much more diversified than this (exception made of multi-asset funds such as AOM, YDIV, MDIV, INKM, etc). This is just something to hold and keep. At this point in time, the market really could go both ways, either with optimists on the US economy pushing things up, or, geopolitical risks triggering a serious correction.
Total World Stocks - BullishAs with any longer term predictions the chances of it following the plan are pretty remote but this take sees world equities continuing there excellent run for some time yet. It looks to me that my 5th wave is extending but with most of the world's equity markets undergoing a correction of sorts at the moment this could be an end of a wave iii.

There is no etf to short this index in my 401k. I am currently short one Dow future. Trying to short the US market has not been very rewarding so far. I will start shorting it more going forward. I watched my 401k fall a lot in 2008 and watched it recover over 9 years. I am currently all in cash in my 401k. I am long 2 corn futures and 2 soybean meal futures in my margin account.
