Forecasting Swing Levels in a Trend Using Elliot WaveHere's a simple template that can help you to draw good fib extensions off different useful swings when the is a possible Elliot wave pattern. This should help to flag up the high probability areas in a nice expression of the Elliot pattern and also give you warning levels to watch along the way in case the nice simple pattern fails. We're going to focus on two legs. There's a few more you can draw fibs from and have useful repeating ratios but to keep it simple I'm just going to focus on the two high value ones here. Working left to right on the chart notes: When we know waves 4-5 we can use it for wave C An extension fib drawn from low to high of the 4-5 swing (you'd know this was in when wave A breaks the trend) is very useful for determining the levels the market is likely to make a low and also the level which a capitulation event is likely. The 1.61 extension is the important level here. It can hold in a simple wave 4 spike out correction. If it breaks, usually price capitulates to at least the 2.20. More commonly the 2.61 in the event we're making a low (You'll usually find this is a 76 retracement of 1-5 also). In the first instance of a 4-5 fib, I've shown a 1.61 break. Bit of a dummy rally around the 1.61 (very common) and then the capitulation to the lower fibs. Which is more common in the first leg of a trend. Deep retracements are common in trend reversals. When we know 1-2 we can use it for levels for wave 3 When we know where waves 1-2 should be in our count we can draw an extension fib high to low on this. We can define waves 1-2 as being in by the breaking of the first wave 5 high. It's also possible to pre-emptively draw these fibs when you think we're at the end of wave C. Obviously these need checked and adjusted if things change. There are four main fib levels we use in this swing. 1.27, 1.61, 2.20 and 2.61. 1.27 and 1.61 levels here are expected to have pullbacks or soft stalls but ultimately break. They're levels to be careful. If it will fail these are hot spots for it, but once we have some reaction around 1.27 - 1.61 and a valid breakout we trend consistently to 2.20. That usually completes wave 3 of the trend. From 2.20 we'll get chop and some false reversals. This is wave 4. It'll go on for a while and be full of false breakouts. Every time something looks like it's happening, it's not. Eventually there's a false bear breakout and then a big spike to the 2.61. This completes waves 4-5. Now we're back to where we started. Once we know waves 4-5, these help with levels for C. Since we now are inside a developing trend rather than in the first leg of it, the retracement is likely to be shallower. Stopping a little past the 1.61. With the trading under there mainly being a wick. There's a big bounce from the 1.61. A pullback (usually to the 1.27) and then there's a break of the high. Once we have seen those legs, then we have our new 1-2 legs and we can use these to forecast where we expect the nice trending action of C. The soft resistance levels along the way that might turn the market if the Elliot thesis is incorrect and the target levels we know to look for the bigger crash correction. For so long as the Elliot cycle plays this, these things just keep rolling into each other and you can make pretty good forecasts of the trend levels.

Earnings: Earnings came out very strong this morning. Revenue came in 869.60 and the street has looking around 814. Earnings beat as well (surprise by 0.03). Technicals: The chart is breaking out of the pennant and with fundamental driver, this can be explosive. Macro: Overnight, there has been positive news out of China. PBOC lowered the reserve requirements by 50bps and there is growing expectation that stimulus is right around the corner, which should help Chinese stocks. Will enter with the 5 min chart and update target along the way but initially run up to 100 looks promising.

IF SPY cannot get above 415.75 quickly and hold, I would be expecting a test of 412 in the session. For further confirmation of a trend day, watch for: USI:ADD pinned near +\-2000 USI:VOLD ratio over +/- 3 USI:TICK cumulating past 0 wicking to +/-900 NYSE:CHGG - tumbled over 43% or 13.5 ATRs in premarket when it forecasted net revenue below analysts' estimates from weaker customer growth due to a recorded rise in student interest in ChatGPT. Many analysts downgrading the name as well. I think this move is unprecedented and there will be opportunities for a bounce trade. Historical support from 2017 is at 8.80, not sure I'd want to be catching a falling knife but it if fails to get below this level I would take a small starter position. However, if it gets below and quickly reclaims, that's a swing failure pattern for me and the buy is on the sequential pullback with wicks after the first bounce on high vol. Trading near the upper end of the multi month consolidation. Would like to see some profit taking in open the a bounce off 35 pivot and PM support seems reasonable. However, we could blast higher being up only 2 ATRs, but on only 1.3 RVOL is suspect that is less likely with all the resistance above and 36.40 and 37.70. EDU: BOTTOMING PATTERN & GAP FILL PLAYEDU ( Chinese stock ): I'm bullish Chinese stocks in general but I really do like the look of EDU. A few reasons to keep a good look on EDU: - price is now above all the moving averages on the daily chart; - price is getting back above the Ichimoku cloud; - there is a huge gap between $29.70 and $57.34; - the weekly chart chart has the look of an inverted head and shoulders (but not really perfect). Has EDU found a bottom? It looks like it. Can we fill that gap? Not sure. However the chart looks promising. The next resistance is at 29.70. If we cross 29.70 I would expect the price to accelerate to the next resistance of 50.27, then potentially fill the gap. If we see weakness in the coming days, the next supports are at 24 and 22. I would wait for the price to cross 29.70 before initiating a long position. My 1st target will then be around 50, my second target will be at 57. Trade safe! (This is no financial advice. New Oriental: A Sleeping Giant. I was attracted to this chart from a Technical Analysis point of view and reward: risk ratio on a potential trade. Price has finally found support at a previous Weekly level after dropping 95% from all time high. It seems as if there is more upside potential than downside potential. I'm not going to buy here. If I buy, it will be at the fib levels outlined in the chart. A retest would show strength and could incentivise buyers to push volume to the EDU. I'm not sure if I will get that buy but I don't like to chase breakouts. I didn't know about this company until last week. Reading more about the company and their annual report I was surprisingly impressed. Despite the huge drop in price, the company has actually increased revenue from 2020. They've total assets have doubled from close to five million US dollars in 2019 to 10 million US dollars in 2021. With that said there are some negative components such as decrease in Net Income and Net Profit Margin. Looking at their business model, providers of private education in China, this makes sense. Schools have been massively affected by pandemic. Some big names have EDU in their portfolio, their largest five holders include Morgan Stanley, Blackrock, Vanguard, Goldman Sachs and Bank of America. According to Yahoo Finance it was also one of Ray Dalio's Bridgewater Associates top ten small cap stock picks. They increased their position size in Q4 by 24%.

What stocks to buy ?I think this is an Asian culture , not sure if our friends in the West feel the same way. Followers and friends in other parts of Asia like Thailand, Malaysia, HK, China and of course , Singapore have confided to me the stress that parents feel on each weekend. No, not fretting over where to go for vacation (who has the mood these days with lockdown and heightened alert )but parents are busy ferrying their kids from one enrichment program to another. Name it and they have it ; from fencing to swimming to ballad class, language to coding, the list goes on. How much is too much and are parents over feeding their kids with too much enrichment ? I think it is tough to answer this questions as each parent holds different values in their child upbringing. But, indeed these are the pain points of the parents and collectively, it forms such a huge demand that companies like this New Oriental are raking in billions of dollars in China. Now, we are witnessing a 70% drop from its peak at 20 dollars to the current price of 6.40. I expect it to head south towards the support at 5.08. New Oriental Records USD 4.27 billion Revenue in FY 2021AccordinAccording to the latest regulatory developments, it plans to shut down a certain number of learning centers in the fiscal year 2022. The Chinese edtech giant released the audited performance report for the fiscal year 2021 on September 24 Revenue was USD 4.27 billion, a year-on-year increase of 19.5%. The net profit was USD 230 million, a year-on-year decrease of 35.03%. The net profit attributable to shareholders was USD 334 million. The revenue of New Orientals plans and services in the fiscal year 2021 was USD 3.93 billion, accounting for 92.1% of the total revenue while the revenue of books and other services was recorded as USD 340 million, accounting for 7.9% of the total revenue. The firm's business is mainly divided into seven categories, including K12 after-school counseling, examination preparation courses, adult language training, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, textbook development and distribution, online education, overseas study consultation, overseas study tour and other services. - New Oriental's revenue from K12 after-school counseling, test preparation and other courses was USD 3.66 billion, accounting for 85.8% of the total revenue, an increase for three consecutive years. Online education revenue was USD 211 million, accounting for 4.92% of the total revenue, with a year-on-year increase of 37.91%. - The revenue of kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, textbook development and distribution, study abroad consultation, overseas study tour and other services was USD 399 million, accounting for 9.33% of the total revenue. - In terms of the number of students, as of the reported period New Oriental has 6.723 million students participating in extracurricular counseling courses for middle school and high school students, and 5.348 million students participating in extracurricular counseling courses for kindergarten and primary school students. In terms of expenses, the total operating costs and expenses of New Oriental during the reporting period were USD 4.159 billion.
