TSM trade ideas
Possible post-earnings bounce levels for Taiwan SemiconductorsWith industry-leading technology and low exposure to China tariffs, Taiwan Semiconductor is poised to thrive in the trade war era. The stock soared to overbought levels ahead of earnings, then blew away analyst estimates on its earnings report. However, the stock has been dropping after earnings because the price had gotten too high, too fast. Its current P/E of about 24 is about average for the semiconductor sector, but it's well above TSM's five-year average of 16. TSM is bound to bounce at some point and resume its uptrend; the question is when.
If this were any other other sector, I'd expect to plummet right through our first support level. However, semiconductors have absolutely defied gravity lately, so it's fully possible that the first support will give us our bounce. Here's one possible scenario, in which we get a mini-bounce from the first support and then a stronger bounce from the first trend line:
Here's another likely scenario in which we fall to the second trend line and bounce from there:
Even if we do break the second trend line, we've got a nice, strong volume node right underneath it at 44.17 to act as a secondary support. Best case scenario for buyers is that we head all the way down to about 42, where another strong volume node is located.
My strategy for playing this is to buy at the first trend line, with a stop loss right beneath it in case the stock breaks down further. If it does, then re-enter at the second trend line and just hold, with no stop loss. If it falls further to 42, triple the size of my position. As always, this is just an idea as to how the market will move and is not intended as investment advice. Happy trading!

Arriving at long-term buy opportunityThis large-cap stock has been trending sideways for a long time now; overall bullish coiling on the monthly chart with a reverse head and shoulder pattern. Now arriving at a weekly buy zone.
This can be a long term buy - the potential target at 44 or even higher.

TSMC: Trading at top of a +/- 20% rangeTSMC has been trading in a +/- 20% range since Jan 2018 and this is the 3rd time the stock has hit the top of the range. Be it more tariffs, smartphone saturation or the fact that Chinese crypto mines are being shut down, the demand picture for chips are just not that great.
Taiwan Semiconductor (Reversal)TSM is moving towards a key resistance level which could in-turn create a reversal. That level is just under $39.00. Big tech companies are anticipating the release of 5G, so most if not all mobile devices will have capabilities and Qualcomm which is a customer of TSM will be producing a lot of chips.
TSM - this behemoth in Semis is Sinking- why ? because globally things are just working very good...
- the market is already shorting this battered stock which is actually processing 90% or more of the semis across markets...
Now ... if semis are working so great... how do you think banks will ? Or FANGs ?
Maybe ppl are stashed in hardware... who knows ? ;-)
TSM daily bulllish butterfly after earningsTaiwan Semiconductor Manufacturer has a bullish butterfly pattern after its earnings.
It didn't really pull back much since 2015-8-24, so this trading opportunity is worth noticing for potential reversal sign near 38.00-39.00
In terms of trading, TSM is not the one people mention the most in Taiwan for its steady move and lack of volatility;
while in terms of investing, almost everyone will think TSM is the top 3 pick for long-term investing.
Finding a good entry for this stock and execute the buy and hold strategy is not a bad idea at all ~
Let's see how it goes!
TSM Long on Fundamentals and TechnicalsStrong and consistent revenue growth should drive earnings. With a P/E of 17.3, it is inexpensive compared to rest of market. Their customers, including major tech players such as Apple , Nvidia , AMD , and Huawei, having continued growth will drive TSM's revenue and earnings into the long term future. Timing using technicals: it's held a trendline since starting its bull run in 2016. Now testing that again could provide a good entry point. Some ETF exposure to it: it is 10.16% of SMH , 3.8% of SOXX .
