Lingrid | GOLD Weekly Outlook: Anticipating Short-Term PullbackOANDA:XAUUSD market dropped from the resistance zone, forming a double top. The PCE inflation data triggered a pullback, leading to a 2% decline from the highs—similar to the decline we saw around two months ago. On the weekly timeframe, the price formed a long-tailed bar, signaling a rejection candle, and ultimately closed below the previous weekly high. Additionally, the price broke and closed below the upward trendline that had supported the market since the beginning of February. This breakout suggests a pause in the bullish momentum. On the daily timeframe, the market formed an engulfing candle at the resistance zone, indicating that the price may retrace toward the 2820 and 2830 levels. We’ve seen seven consecutive bullish weeks. Typically, after such strong momentum, the market either moves sideways or experiences a quick pullback. Given that there are few USD-related news events next week, I expect the market to potentially push lower. However, due to concerns about tariffs, there is also a chance the price could consolidate around the current zone before pushing higher. Lingrid | GOLD Market ANALYSIS: 8-Week RALLY. What's Next? This week, OANDA:XAUUSD market was consolidating rather than trending, with momentum only visible on Tuesday. Despite this, the weekly candle closed bullish, marking our eighth consecutive bullish weekly candle. On the daily timeframe, the last three candles are doji candles, showing consolidation around the previous week's high level. This suggests the overall bullish momentum is at least on pause. The price closed below the previous week's low, a pattern that repeated this week. Despite this, we've formed an all-time high level, and the price action appears to be forming a head and shoulders pattern on the 1H timeframe. However, this pattern could easily transform into a bullish flag pattern if the price reaches the 2950 level. Given these factors, I believe the market may push to higher levels one last time before a deep correction occurs. If the market reacts positively to the psychological level and upward trendline, there's a strong chance the upward momentum will continue. GOLD: Why Might GOLD Continue To Decline FurtherGOLD: Why Might GOLD Continue To Decline Further Based on our last two analyses, the price movements have confirmed our initial suspicions. During the first bullish attempt, Gold reached a new all-time high at $2946.80, but subsequently retraced back below the structure to $2918.46. The following day, Gold increased to $2954.80 before moving back below the structure to $2916.60. For the time being, we had two clear false bullish breakouts. Given the strong price reactions in that zone, the likelihood of Gold continuing its bearish movement up to $2880 is high. However, selling gold remains very risky due to the strong bullish trend. Gold can drop to support level, breaking resistance levelHello traders, I want share with you my opinion about Gold. On this chart, we can see that the price rebounded from the mirror line and began to rise. Shortly after, it reached the support level, broke it, and hovered around this area for some time before dropping back to the mirror line. Later, the price broke through the support level once again and started trading within a range. During this phase, it climbed to the resistance level, which aligned with the seller zone, before pulling back to the mirror line. Gold then dipped into the buyer zone but quickly surged above the mirror line, entering the seller zone. After this movement, XAU corrected below the mirror line before resuming its upward trajectory. Not long after, the price reached the resistance level, broke through it, and exited the range. For some time, Gold traded above the seller zone, but recently, it dropped and is now hovering near the 2930 resistance level within the seller zone. I believe that Gold might rise slightly before continuing its decline, eventually breaking the resistance level. Typically, these patterns leave early bearish clues and help to predict a coming downturn movement. A strong bearish signal is a breakout of a horizontal neckline of the pattern and a candle close below. The price may continue falling at least to the next key support then. Above is the example of a head and shoulders pattern on Gold, on a daily. Its formation was the evidence of the overheated market. Bearish breakout of its neckline confirmed that, and the price continued falling. Bearish Reversal Signal 2 - Rising Channel Breakout. When the market is trading in a healthy bullish trend, it usually starts moving with the boundaries of a rising channel. It can be the expanding, parallel or contracting channel. Its support will represent a strong vertical structure , from where new bullish waves will initiate after corrections . Its breakout will quite accurately indicate a change of a market sentiment and a highly probable bearish reversal. Look at this rising parallel channel on Gold chart on a daily. The market was respecting its boundaries for more than 3 months. A bearish violation of its support was an accurate bearish signal that triggered a strong bearish movement. Bearish Reversal Signal 3 - Change of Character & Bearish Price Action. One of the main characteristics of a bullish trend is the tendency of the market to set new higher highs and higher lows. Each final high of each bullish impulse is always higher than the previous. Each final low of each bearish movement is also higher than the previous. In such a price action, the level of the l ast higher low is a very significant point. The violation of that and a formation of a new low is an important event that is called Change of Character CHoCH. It signifies the violation of a current bullish trend. After that, one should pay attention to a consequent price action, because CHoCH can easily turn into just an extended correctional movement. If the market sets a lower high and a new lower low then, it will confirm the start of a new bearish trend. That is the example of a confirmed Change of Character on Gold on a daily. To validate the start of a new bearish trend, we should let the price set a lower high and a form a bearish impulse with a new lower low. Bearish Reversal Signal 4 - Death Cross. Death cross is a strong long-term bearish reversal signal that is based on a crossover of 2 moving averages. On a daily time frame, it is usually based on a combination of 2 Simple Moving Averages: one with 50 length and one with 200 length. The signal is considered to be confirmed when a 50 length SMA crosses below 200 length SMA. It is commonly believed that it signifies that the market enters a long-term bearish trend. On the chart, I plotted 2 Moving Averages. When the blue one crosses below the orange one, a global bearish trend on Gold will be confirmed The 4 bearish signals that we discussed will be useful for predicting short term, mid term and long term bearish reversals on Gold. While price action patterns will indicate local bearish movements, Death Cross will confirm a global trend change.
