HSBC repurchased 4.4 million shares for cancellation, including 2.7 million on UK exchanges at £9.25 each and 1.7 million in Hong Kong at HK$97.90 each.
HSBC has withdrawn from a group focused on helping banks reach net zero emissions, becoming the first British bank to do so amid concerns from NGOs.
