Technical analysis update: Lufthansa AG (28th July 2021)In 2020 airlines around the globe experienced one of the worst years in their history due to pandemic crisis and worldwide restrictions on travel and freedom of movement. This had detrimental impact on airlines around the world. Story is no different for Lufthansa AG. Last year German government bailed out Lufthansa AG with 9 billion euros. Subsequently German government gained 20% stake in the company which is supposed to be temporary until LHA gets back on its feet. As part of the bailout deal German government is not allowed to interfere in daily operations of Lufthansa AG. German government having 20% stake in the company suggests relatively lower risk associated with this investement as opposed to other airline investments where no government is involved with the company. Company's stock declined since December 2017 until September 2020 when it reached low of 6.848 EUR per share. Since then price reversed and started to make higher highs and higher troughs. Within last two months divergence between price and RSI became observable. In addition to that RSI, MACD and Stochastics turned bullish. Though, ADX contains low value suggesting that weak or no trend is present. Despite that we think LHA is poised to move higher eventually. In the short term we expect company to move sideways and struggle but in the long term we expect LHA to perform well. We would like to set our long term price target for LHA to 12 euros per share.

All Lufthansa flights to India will route through Dubai
Airline logistics are complicated nowadays. For the time being, all Lufthansa flights to & from India are being routed through Dubai Airport. As of now this shows as being scheduled through the end of May, though presumably this could be extended beyond that.
For some context on Lufthansa’s current service to India, the airline is flying to three destinations, all using Boeing 747-8 aircraft:
Lufthansa flies 3x weekly between Frankfurt and Bangalore
Lufthansa flies 4x weekly between Frankfurt and Delhi
Lufthansa flies 3x weekly between Frankfurt and Mumbai
For the time being, each of these flights will stop in Dubai in both direction
Lufthansa AG - turning around from Stage 1 to Stage 2?With all the movements happening right now and so much focus put on FANG type of stocks - I am looking for some possible entries in other sectors.
I have flown with Lufthansa too many times :) That also helps me to know the quality of the business ... but in the world of investing - no emotions .... lets look at what the chart and its Price Action tells us.
Lets start with Weekly ....
Following the 240% growth - the stock has experienced a close to 80% price correction. It happened over almost 3 years with bottom reinforced by Covid events. All that time 40SMA (equivalent to 200SMA on daily) has been trending down - basically removing any interest on my side.
Though since the move over 40SMA (around November 2020 time) - i am watching the stock. And things are turning around. Here is what I see:
40SMA is trending up now
look at this huge volume in Q2 of 2020 - someone was buying in bulk :)
Lets look now closer at Daily chart:
Longer SMAs (150 and 200) are growing and price is above them - good sign
Price dived under 50 SMA - not so good sign
We have seen a short term up trend (from 8 up to 13 price level) - what we see is a natural correction now
So what am I waiting for:
Break the downward trend on daily
start setting up new higher lows and higher highs
signal level at 11.01.
We will see how it plays out ..... :)

It was a big downfall for Lufthansa when the Covid 19 outbreak started.
Also we can see how the Bearish pattern started with a big downtrend during the months that where behind us.
On the Chart now we can see on the previous chart how the price has begun to prepare for a Uptrend Movement.

Lufthansa might fight sidwards for a while till go up againLufthansa was strong last month, since corona crisis may see an end in this year.
Strong resistances are ahead, so it is likly, it will go sidewards for the next month with several attempts to break out upwards.
If a upward move will stabilize, it may be a good trade.
On the watch list now, but no position.

It is the third approved drug in the US, following the vaccines from Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna. However, while the earlier two vaccines required two doses, the drug from J&J is a single-dose application. Vaccinations could start in the US as early as tomorrow. It will dramatically speed up the number of Americans vaccinated in the coming weeks, bringing the full reopening of the economy nearer. Meanwhile data from the UK show that the rapid vaccine rollout is starting to have an impact . As the elderly were the first to be vaccinated, starting Dec. 8, it’s noticeable that COVID-19 related deaths are falling fastest in those age groups. The UK and other European countries started to reopen their economies with now more and more German senior officials, such as Finance Minister Olaf Scholz, to call for a quicker reopening of Europe’s largest economy increasing pressure on German chancellor Angela Merkel to ease Germany’s coronavirus curbs. Germany's largest airline rose more than 3% today, sees some profit taking, but will soon find support (€12.50 - €12.65) and rise further towards €13 .

LHA is a german airline giant in distress due to covid travel restrictions
However, the company is still great and it is bouncing from the absolute lows!
So the reversal has already begun and there are 3 targets on its way UP!
Also, on the fundamental side, it is the too big to fail case
Which means the german Government will certainly Bail this company out
If the going gets hard
So I am in and I suggest you buy some as well!

LUFTHANSA AG (LHA): BAIL or FAIL
Being the honorable member of DAX index and gigantic employer,
Lufthansa is too big to fail.
Though its stock prices dropped significantly, the enterprise will receive as many bailouts as needed.
It's not a mom & pop shop that went bankrupt during the lockdown, that one is much more important (hope you feel that irony).
For us, however, its cheap price gives a perfect chance to make a great investment decision.
"Buy low, sell high" remember?
LHA - UPCOMING TRADE SETUPLHA seems to have done a wxy correction down meaning we should expect an impulse up next. I am waiting for a wave 2 correction to finish and then will look to enter a long position. Based off likely wave 2 targets, this trade will have about a 68% upside potential, and if it were to hit SL, the loss would be -24%. At this point just keep an eye on the wave 2 and wait for completion.

Existing shareholders, above all Heinz Hermann Thiele, would have lost their money (capital market risk) and the entire bondholders would have had to convert their bonds into new shares (debt-to-equity).
Lufthansa would be a debt-free company and could take off again in 2021.
The entry of the German state now prolongs and intensifies the consolidation process and is associated with massive austerity measures. The old problems and overindebtedness remain.

Magic support level?Lufthansa arrived to an area or level which has been already tested for a few times. The company has announced a further cut not only to its workforce, but also to its fleet #news. This effect can move the stock price in a higher area, a doji candle has already appeared, moreover it seems that another one is preapering to happen #candlestick. In my opinion, it will rise, but another scenario is able to happen too.
