BGFV trade ideas
$BGFV Bull Flag (Pennant) Looking to break to ATHsI missed the big break-out after earnings. But as you can see on this weekly chart it is now forming a bull flag or pennant (notice the big flag pole) depending on how you want to draw it. Regardless. When this broke out it busted thru a 17 year downtrend! Talk about change in character... I'm looking for this to maybe consolidate for a few more days and then break this shorter term downtrend where I will be looking to enter this trade. Big 5 reported earnings, beat and guided higher in early May. Ideas not investing / trading advice.

BGFV Bearish Descending TriangleBGFV has had an incredible run for the past year. This is an amazing chart that has been going up consistently, and just recently skyrocketed. On their last earnings call they announced a special dividend of $1.00 per share. Like many other stocks, when this happens the stock overextends from the original bullish trend.
The key levels to watch seem to be both the $20 and $25 levels. These seem to have significance dating back on the monthly chart. If this pattern is to move downwards, those are the levels I will be watching. After seeing the bearish engulfing candle on the daily, along with the insider selling going on this month, I expect this to move lower.
My plan: 7/16 $20 Puts. These are low risk contracts that give me time at a cheap premium.
This is my first post, I hope this can be helpful to someone. Only time will tell. Good luck to you all!

Hi !
Today BGFV stock is a very good candidate for a short.
And here's why.
What's on the chart:
1. historical highs.
2. Strong upward movement with no pullbacks.
3. Closing yesterday's bar below the middle, not far from the nearest level.
Strategy:
Short below the 30.63 level
Important: Risk per trade, stop loss order and TP-order must be set based on your strategy.
NB: I firmly believe and this has statistical and historical evidence that an intraday trader must use an SL-order which will allow him to limit his losses.
So I strongly recommend to my subscribers and students to do this, which can save deposit from losses. I don't welcome trading without an understanding of risk management. If you don't know how to manage your deposit, such basic concepts as risk per trade, risk per day and risk per deposit should be calculated, you'd better take the appropriate training, either at the company or elsewhere.

Sell cash secured puts on Big5?If you are interested in accumulating BGFV you could consider selling a put. If it reverses, like is has in the past you pocket a % for the reversal or if you wanted a decent entry why not get paid for the pullback? It might not feel great entering this position although it's paid off the last few months as the stock continues it's upward trend.
BGFV FailFailed at first entry and it provided a second opportunity thereafter but was too close to earnings.

BGFV:NASDAQ - BIG 5 SPORTING GOODS - 980% gain since March lowsGot lucky on my timing with this one. I was looking around for other sporting goods stocks after how well SPWH has been running and thinking with the US coming into summer and travel abroad being restricted there could be some more upside to sporting goods type stocks. Spotted this one coming back after a pullback and caught a big chunk of todays 30% rise. Not sure how much longer it will run for after todays big bump, but could be worth a look.

BGFV looking like a nice hold for awhileBGFV has some big buying volume earlier in the month and looks good to hold until $13-$16. P/B ratio is still 0.56 when in the past it has averaged between 1-2 P/B ratio. Will be continuing to sell covered calls into the top resistance channel on the 1 day chart.
