We have a dividend paying stock that has had some earnings trouble in the last two quarters which has put this stock in a slump. For the short term, I'm currently looking at an improvement in relative strength with increase in daily volume along with a possible move above support. The cup shaped pattern in this chart may suggest that a trend reversal is under way. A weekly time-frame may be better to find this type of pattern, but, this daily chart seems to show a clear reversal. Based on some of the stochastic signals highlighted in the chart, I think we begin to see a short term reversal in Resolute Forest Products stock price. I'm looking for $RFP to move over 4.50, and if it does, I hope to see continuation to the resistance point of 4.85.

I like this channel re-entry area, though it may not the best time to go long since earnings are only one day away. I would expect to see continuation to the 66-68 range on a good earnings number.
