Monday is the day when Senate Republicans plan to reveal the contents of a new economic stimulus package, a proposal called CARES 2 that includes a second stimulus check. We don't yet know if the second check will be larger or smaller than the first check's $1,200 maximum, or if the same people will qualify to get it.
There's talk that CARES 2 could bring the same payments and eligibility requirements as the original stimulus check, up to $1,200 for individuals. Senate Republicans have also suggested tightening the income restrictions and sending payments to fewer people. The Democrat-led House of Representatives conversely wants to broaden the requirements to allow more people to qualify, including groups that were passed up before.
