USDJPY: Moving Toward Key Support at 150 In the previous analysis, we highlighted an important supply zone around 158, where this currency pair faced resistance, leading to a decline and strengthening of the Japanese yen. A key factor for further decline has been the break of the descending trendline. However, the most crucial confirmation would be the breakdown of the key 150 support level, which would provide greater confidence in short positions. Therefore, for selling opportunities, traders should either wait for a return to the supply zone around 154 or for a break of the 150 support, followed by a pullback entry.

Yen Holds Losses Amid US Tariffs, BOJ Policy SpeculationThe yen held around 152 per dollar on Tuesday after a previous decline, pressured by the dollar's strength following new US tariffs. Trump’s 25% steel and aluminum tariff, imposed without exceptions, raised fears of an inflation-driven trade war, potentially limiting Fed rate cuts. The yen gained over 2% last week on expectations of more BOJ hikes. BOJ board member Naoki Tamura signaled a policy rate increase to at least 1% in fiscal 2025, while strong wage and household spending data reinforced the hawkish outlook. The key resistance level appears to be 153.85, with a break above it potentially targeting 154.90 and 156.00. On the downside, 151.90 is the first major support, followed by 151.25 and 149.20 if the price moves lower.

4-hr USD/JPY: Targeting 300 pips to the Down SideOver the past few weeks, the USD has lost nearly 800 pips against the JPY, driven by Japan's shift away from decades of negative interest rates. Given the pair's massively oversold conditions, we anticipate that this correction may continue higher as short-term buyers step in. Short opportunity coming in 1H ?$151.850 is a major resistance and support area. USDJPY failed to reclaim the recent ATH and it is currently hovering around that major R/S area. All daily momentum indicators are in the bear zone so my overall bias is bear. When you look at 1H RSI, you can see the RSI lines are travelling inside the ascending parallel channel. I will open a short position IF the RSI lines breaks below the bottom ascending line, and 1H candle closes below EMA 21and the major R/S line, I am going to use a 15 min chart to find an entry. You can see the idea for the trading entry, S/L and, P/T in the 15 min chart.
